WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE this past week on WWE RAW . He said nothing and did less, but the impact of his return and the looks made were so awesome that people will remember the night Lesnar came back. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins made the segment so much better with his acting, but most believe that Rollins wasn’t having to act all that much. Who wouldn’t be scared of a wrecking ball like Brock Lesnar?
While Lesnar seems to be returning as a babyface, this was not the plan early on. In fact, the plan was so vastly different that we could have seen something just as great as what we’re about to. According to Daily Wrestling News , WWE has had plans for Seth Rollins to turn babyface. The problem was when he would do it. He has done so well alone that it wouldn’t make sense to take him out of his great heel run.
WWE was actually planning to reunite The Shield months ago. The plan around this time was that Rollins would turn on Kane, and then “destroy” Triple H.
This would have forced The Authority change up the way they did things. The Shield being back would force Triple H to bring back Brock Lesnar, who would then be able to help The Authority rival the infamous trio. The Shield and Lesnar would go at it from the summer until the late Fall.
From there, who knows where things would lead.
However, as you may have noticed, plans changed. The Authority and Rollins still seem to be parting ways, which is why Brock Lesnar was brought back. However, the story has changed a great deal. Lesnar is babyface while Rollins remains heel. Meanwhile, The Authority are sort of in the corner in the tweener stage.
The plan is for Lesnar and Rollins to face off, most likely at WWE Battleground . After this, Rollins is set to turn babyface, where he would then face Triple H at WWE SummerSlam . At this point, a Shield reunion could very well take place, considering all men would currently be babyface. However, it would be tough to make this happen, as Rollins screwed Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31 and has done the same to Dean Ambrose on more than one occasion. At one point, he attempted to end his career.
A reunion, any way you spin it, would sound nice, but also weird. Seth Rollins has done so much that Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns would have to consider it a bad concept to even consider getting The Shield back together. The only way it makes sense is if a faction of some sort comes through and changes the game. This would force The Shield to reunite, rather than them just do it.
For most, putting The Shield back together has to be a big angle in its own right. It cannot just happen. WWE has a money maker with this, so it is good to do in the future. However, it needs to be done well. Fans can still enjoy Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose as singles stars until then.
