Justin Bieber Will Be The ‘First Thing’ We See In ‘Zoolander 2’
For any Justin Bieber fans counting the days until they get to see their boy in Zoolander 2 once theaters open on February 12, 2016, they won’t have long to wait to see the Biebs on screen.
The “Where Are Ü Now” singer kicks off the entire movie with a parkour sequence.
“I start the movie off,” the singer revealed to Women’s Wear Daily before performing at the Calvin Klein Jeans-hosted music event in Hong Kong last week. “The first thing you see in the movie, which is pretty cool. I do this whole, like, parkour sequence.”
For those unaware, parkour is a training discipline, which uses movement developed from military obstacle course training.
The news ties in neatly with the on-set shots that surfaced of Justin filming Zoolander 2 in Rome with director and lead actor, Ben Stiller, with co-star Owen Wilson, the day after the Biebs and Stiller announced the Canadian’s cameo by sharing a photo of themselves in a “Blue Steel” face-off on social media on April 29.
Paparazzi-obtained pics showed a blurry Justin looking scared while trying to escape from an outside, metal cage. Other shots revealed him jumping and running in a night-lit walled garden.
Of his experience on the film set, the 21-year-old recalls, “I’ve never really done something like that before. I didn’t expect Ben [Stiller] to be so hands on … It was really cool to have him direct me in such a non-threatening way. I wasn’t intimidated at all.”
Justin is playing an accident prone young man named Rinjeff “Jeff” Qalmok-Dravinski in Zoolander 2, if a May 1 Wikipedia entry (which was later deleted) is authentic. But all will be revealed when the cameo-stacked movie debuts.
The movie also stars Penélope Cruz, Christine Taylor, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Billy Zane, Fred Armisen, Olivia Munn, and a lineup of cameos. These include Lewis Hamilton, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian-West. Models Karli Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Naomi Campbell, Jourdan Dunn, and Alessandra Ambrosio are also thought to be eyed as walk-ons.
Justin also talked about his plans to design his own men’s line of fashion and streetwear at some point, but also said he is not ready yet after taking note of Kanye West’s struggles to get established in fashion. West is producing Justin’s new album with Rick Rubin.
Sounding as if he has listened intently to whatever West may have told him, Justin shared to WWD, “I just want to make sure it’s perfect and right and take my time with it.”
He continued, “I know Kanye has been working on his stuff for years and failed and came back and tried again — and failed. It’s about trial and error and I don’t know if I’m ready for that yet… I got to make sure I’m ready for the failing part of it because I know that comes with it.”
Justin was unveiled as the new face of Calvin Klein Underwear and Jeans in the first week of 2015, before inclusion in U.S. Vogue, covers of L’Uomo Vogue and Men’s Health, photo shoots with Karl Lagerfeld, twice featured in Mario Testino’s iconic “Towel Series,” and his notable Balmain-clad turn at May’s Met Gala in NYC. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that the singer has fashion designer aspirations.
Justin Bieber fans have a lot to look forward to. A new album, a future men’s fashion line, and a parkour scene right at the start of Zoolander 2 is just part of what’s to come.
