‘The Originals’ Spoilers: Don’t Turn Your Back On A Scorned Witch

Last season, The Originals left off with everything seeming to be ending on a happy note — well, as happy as one can get with a distrustful, paranoid half-brother living life by the “ends justify the means” philosophy. Still, it seemed The Originals’ Klaus (Joseph Morgan) had saved the day and his only real worry was having to redeem himself in the eyes of his siblings, particularly to Elijah (Daniel Gillies). Not so.

The Originals‘ executive producer Michael Narducci says fans will see a bigger threat in season 3 and a threat that the Mikaelsons certainly should have seen coming. Newly appointed regent of the New Orleans witches, Davina Claire (Danielle Campbell), has been pushed too far and Narducci reports that she will spend season 3 of The Originals plotting and executing a well-deserved revenge on the Mikaelsons.

More specifically, Davina will be seeking out those responsible for deceiving her into resurrecting Esther instead of Kohl in the season 2 finale of The Originals. The regent of the witches will have helped with this plot, according to The Originals’ executive producer. It seems the spirits see an opportunity here and will aid Davina by lending her their powers in the hopes that she will be able to set the Mikaelson brothers even further at odds.

“The spirits are going to have access to Davina,” The Originals E.P. said. “They’re going to lend her their power and communicate with her about what’s best for the people and witches of New Orleans. That’s who she’ll be an advocate for, and the Mikaelsons, some would argue, are not the best things in the world for the witches. That’s going to put them at odds, assuming there’s no larger threat coming for which they might have to unite against. There are a lot of different ways this could play out.”

The threat Davina will represent in the new season of The Originals will force Klaus and Elijah to come together and present a united front, but this will by no means mend the divide. As The Originals’ Daniel Gillies pointed out in earlier interviews, there is much which Klaus has done that will take quite some time for Elijah to forgive. For murdering his own lover and condemning Haley (Phoebe Tonkin) to a new werewolf curse, there may not even be enough forgiveness in Elijah’s heart.

The new season of The Originals premieres in October on the CW network.
