WWE Rumors: The Early Return Of Brock Lesnar May Have Changed Plans For ‘SummerSlam’
Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE last night on Monday Night Raw may not have only been huge for the fans, but it may have changed some things. Even though it wasn’t officially said, it does look like Lesnar is now aligned with The Authority and that could mean Seth Rollins is on his way out. With that, the plans for SummerSlam appear to have changed as to what matches are on tap for the big event in August.
Right now, Lesnar and Rollins are building toward a match for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at Battleground on July 19. That’s a five-week build-up, and it just doesn’t seem likely that the feud would continue past that.
After Battleground, Brock Lesnar is now advertised by WWE to appear at a number of events before SummerSlam on August 23. While Lesnar isn’t yet advertised for the Pay-Per-View, it’s likely he will be a part of it.
- July 20 RAW in Kansas City
- August 3 RAW in San Jose
- August 17 RAW in Minneapolis
Now, Lesnar could possibly gearing toward a WrestleMania 31 rematch with Roman Reigns, per the Daily DDT. It was originally looked at as Lesnar and Rollins facing off at SummerSlam, but that feud will be taken care of within the next month.
Well, that leaves Rollins out, but his expected face turn could land him in a match with Triple H at the end of the summer event. It would be dueling masters of The Pedigree, and a teacher versus student type of thing, per WrestleZone.
Essentially, there are your two main event matches for SummerSlam, but seeing as how it is one of the big four events of the year, there is more already in the works.
Even though the newly reunited portion of the Wyatt Family (Erick Rowan and Luke Harper) haven’t been seen in a while, expect something from them. Rumors are still swirling that the Dudley Boyz could make a WWE comeback to face off with Rowan and Harper for using the 3D aka The Way in recent matches.
The other big rumor is one that was getting a lot of talk, but has since died down a bit and that’s a match between Stardust and Stephen Amell of Arrow. Ever since the death of Dusty Rhodes, there’s talk that Stardust could return to his Cody Rhodes gimmick.
Two big matches already seem locked in place for SummerSlam with Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns and Triple H vs. Seth Rollins. Now, if The Shield really does reunite, something will need to be in place for Dean Ambrose too. All of these are rumors for now, but SummerSlam is building up to be huge.
