‘Gender Fluid’ Miley Cyrus Has Date With ‘Queer, Biracial, Agender’ Person

Miley Cyrus is using Instagram to advocate for the acceptance of “transgender and gender expansive people,” and it looks like her social media campaign has helped her find the perfect date for tonight’s amfAR Inspiration Gala in New York.

Miley Cyrus introduced fans to her Inspiration Gala date on Instagram, obviously. According to Miley, her new friend Tyler Ford is “a queer, biracial, agender person, whose pronouns are they/them/theirs.” Tyler shared their inspirational story on Miley’s Instagram page, and the singer posted a series of photos of her date rocking yellow outfits and groovy daisy sunglasses. As you can see, Miley is pretty enamored with Tyler.

According to CNN, Miley Cyrus is making the next two weeks all about #InstaPride on her Instagram page. She’ll continue to share stories of people like Tyler in an effort to show the world that members of the trans and gender-fluid community are just as deserving of love and acceptance as everyone else. All of Miley’s photos so far have been cheerful pictures with bright yellow backdrops — instead of focusing on the struggles people like Tyler have faced their entire lives, Miley is celebrating them.

The #InstaPride photo series is being produced by the Happy Hippie Foundation, the non-profit organization Miley Cyrus founded in honor of Leelah Alcorn. Alcorn is a transgender girl who committed suicide after her parents forced her to undergo conversion therapy instead of accepting who she was. The Happy Hippie Foundation aims to prevent similar tragedies by rallying “young people to fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBTQ youth, and other vulnerable populations.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Miley Cyrus has revealed that she’s bisexual and that she doesn’t see herself as being a boy or being a girl. In a recent interview with TIME, she stated that she’s started identifying herself as “gender fluid.”

“I’m just equal. I’m just even,” Miley said of her gender identity. “It has nothing to do with any parts of me or how I dress or how I look. It’s literally just how I feel.”

She also hinted that she’s not the biggest fan of labels, revealing that she simply settled on “gender fluid” because other labels didn’t fit.

“People try to make everyone something. You can just be whatever you want to be.”

Cyrus also talked about kind of behavior she won’t accept from a potential male mate. She doesn’t want to settle down with a “drunk bastard” who lets himself go while she continues to make an effort to look good, and she also doesn’t want to be ignored if she’s out on a date.

“If I end up in a straight relationship, that’s fine—but I’m not going to be with f**ing slob guys who are watching porn, making all their girls feel ugly.”

Judging from how much Miley already admires Inspiration Gala date Tyler Ford, she shouldn’t have to worry about having a bad time during tonight’s amfAR event. According to the Foundation for AIDS Research website, Miley Cyrus and Bravo host Andy Cohen will be honored for “their contributions to the fight against AIDS,” and guests will be treated to a runway show. CNN’s Anderson Cooper is hosting the event, and there will be a special performance by Mary J. Blige.

Do you think Miley Cyrus’ efforts are helping the trans and gender-fluid community gain more acceptance?
