Is David Beckham Starring Alongside ‘Crimson Peak’ Star Charlie Hunnam In ‘Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur’?
A new cast member is set to play alongside Charlie Hunnam in the actor’s newest movie project. Fans will be glad to learn that another adored male will be joining Hunnam in the upcoming Guy Ritchie film, Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur. According to CRJ English, David Beckham has been cast to play a role in the new movie and should bolster an already stellar cast.
Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur is a re-telling of the classic story about the legendary King Arthur, played by Hunnam. While most renditions of the tale center on an adult Arthur, Ritchie’s upcoming movie will focus on a young Arthur who leads a gang in the back alleys of Londonium.
Arthur is forced to lead the fight against the villain Vortigern, played by Jude Law, after discovering the power of Excalibur. Although little else is known about the plot of the film, it is clear that Guinevere, played by Astrid Berges-Frisbey, will also play a part in the rebellion against Vortigern.
While Hunnam is set to play the role of the young Arthur, other cast members include Djimon Hounsou as Bedivere, Eric Bana as Uther Pendragon, and Poppy Delevingne. With so many great actors already involved, the addition of Beckham is sure to add more hype to the highly expected film.
Speaking of David Beckham and his new role, IMDB is reporting that he will be playing the Blackleg leader in the film. This will be the first big role for Beckham, who is internationally known for his abilities on the soccer field.
Although Beckham is certainly most comfortable on the field, this new role isn’t the first time he has set foot on set. Beckham, who is a close friend with director Guy Ritchie, will be making a small appearance in Ritchie’s upcoming film, The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Meanwhile, things are already moving fast with Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur. Production has started for the new movie, which recently began filming in Wales. While news has already broke concerning Beckham’s new role, nothing more is known about his character and how much of a part he will play in the movie.
Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur is the first in a planned series of films about the legendary king. With filming already begun and more cast members being periodically added, the film — and David Beckham in his first major role — seems to be on track with its expected premiere date in the summer 2016.
