Glory Johnson Saddened: 28-Day Marriage To Brittney Griner Ends, Pregnant Johnson Opens Up
Glory Johnson is saddened after her wife, Brittney Griner, has filed to annul their marriage after 28 days. According to Us Weekly, Johnson, who is pregnant with her first child after undergoing IVF treatments, sent an email to the Associated Press, getting her side of the story out into the public after Griner told her side to ESPN last week.
“I am truly really saddened by the recent turn of events and was not expecting to have our marriage end so abruptly… At no stage was Brittney pressured to undertake the fertility process. In fact, throughout the entire process, Brittney was a willing participant, consenting and signing all the necessary documents that needed to be signed in order to move forward with the treatments. In addition, while we may have both had our reservations, we both willfully and joyfully walked down the aisle together and decided to get married.”
Glory Johnson is not only saddened by Brittney Griner’s decision, but she says that she’s now facing life alone, without her partner. She is preparing to welcome a baby into the world, and is doing her best to focus on her pregnancy at this time.
“I am ready to begin focusing on my health, pregnancy, and am going to remain in Tulsa to continue to build my relationship with the Tulsa Shock organization, and my teammates. I appreciate the support of my fans, family, and loved ones and look forward to returning to the basketball court as soon as I can.”
According to People Magazine, Griner claims that she tried to postpone the wedding on “several” occasions after she was arrested for domestic violence, and was sent to counseling for anger management issues.
“In the week prior to the wedding, I attempted to postpone the wedding several times until I completed counseling, but I still went through with it. I now realize that was a mistake,” Griner told People. It sounds like Griner was not ready to get married, but that she went along with it anyway. Of course, that’s not how Johnson sees it, but the two will have to agree to disagree for now.
Glory Johnson has every right to be saddened by Brittney Griner’s actions. Most people don’t want to be single when welcoming a baby into the world, but it does happen, unfortunately. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Griner has gone so far as to claim that she was “blindsided” by Johnson’s pregnancy. Hospital documents should clear up that statement.
