Police Arrest 2 Suspects In Tulsa, Oklahoma Shootings


Police in Tulsa, Oklahoma have arrested two white men on early Sunday morning in connection with a recent shooting that killed three people in Tulsa’s black community while leaving two others critically wounded.

Police were backed up by helicopter surveillance as they stormed a home just north of Tulsa at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday morning, the two suspects will likely be charged with three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of shooting with intent to kill.

According to local police they were able to make the arrest after receiving an anonymous tip.

While the victims were all black and the two men are white police have not yet called the killed racially motivated as they continue to investigate the details surrounding the shootings.

Rev. Warren Blakney Sr., president of the Tulsa NAACP said of the arrests:

“The community once again can go about its business without fear of there being a shooter on the streets on today, on Easter morning.”

The shootings were linked because they all happened only a short distance from one another and all of the shootings occurred within just a few miles from one another. Police also believe that the victims did not know one another.

Police have identified the alleged shooters as Jake England, 19, and Alvin Watts, 32, both men were being questioned at a downtown Tulsa police station on Sunday.

More than two dozen police officers were involved in the hunt for the suspected shooters while they were joined by various officers from the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service. The arrests were expedited with the help of a special operations team and a fugitive operations group.
