Sandra Bullock says she enjoyed playing a an evil villain in the new animated movie, Minions . For those that don’t know, Sandra Bullock starred in what is a spinoff of the Despicable Me franchise that is set before the little yellow guys known as Minions ever meet Gru. In this film, the Minions, led by Bob, Kevin, and Stuart are setting off looking for purpose in their life after accidentally killing off their evil masters.

Eventually, the Minions’ travels lead them to the Sandra Bullock-voiced Scarlet Overkill. Sandra Bullock’s character has her eyes set on Britain’s crown jewels and she’s come up with a plan for the Minions to help her get them. “It’s fantastic because she’s justified, she’s misunderstood,” Sandra Bullock said on the yellow carpet at the film’s world premiere in London on Thursday.

Sandra Bullock said that her character is basically an 8-year-old little girl who is throwing temper tantrums because she “wants what she wants.” The Academy Award-winning actress added that the character was quite fun to play. Sandra Bullock added that doing voice work is quite a bit different than what she’s used to because she’s used to having other actors around to play off of in her films. “So you really discover a lot of what you don’t know, you really rely on the director and the whole team that’s behind that sort of glass partition to help guide you.” She added.

While Sandra Bullock says she truly enjoyed playing the bad guy in Minions, she doesn’t really feel as though voice acting is her forte and she’s not really excited to do it again. In fact, the actress admitted this will likely be the last time she takes on a voice acting spot. So, why did she take this particular job on? For the same reasons most parents would. The Hollywood veteran admitted she took the Minions job because she wanted to appear in something that her young son could appreciate.

She told the Irish Examiner that, “I wanted to make something my son could see and watch and enjoy, even though he doesn’t know what I do and he doesn’t know it’s me, I can sit in the theatre and watch him.” She added that the film schedule worked to her advantage as well because she could make more time to spend with her son. Even though he may not know she’s in it, we think it’s a safe bet he might find Sandra Bullock’s role the most entertaining in the whole Minions movie
