History Channel’s Vikings has been a slowly simmering success story. Vikings tells the story of the Vikings using historically researched information while also giving just enough creative licensing to make the show addictive to watch. While it may seem there are not many Vikings fans, once you scratch the surface, it seems there are fans of the show everywhere. When Season 3 of Vikings ended with a badly wounded Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his brother, Rollo (Clive Standen), left behind in an arranged betrothal to the Princess Gisla (Morgane Polanski) of Paris, fans were left wondering what direction the show would take in Season 4.
However, with San Diego’s Comic-Con fast approaching in July, it seems Vikings fans who attend this year’s Comic-Con will get a sneak peek into Season 4 of History Channel’s Vikings . According to Deadline , Vikings actors Travis Fimmel (who is starring in the upcoming blockbuster movie World of Warcraft ), Katheryn Winnick, Clive Standen, and Alexander Ludwig will join History EVP Dirk Hoogstra and Vikings writer and creator Michael Hirst in Room 6A for the Vikings panel. Fans will be invited to ask the Vikings cast questions during this panel, which will commence on Friday July 10 from 3.30 p.m.
As well as the Vikings Q&A, fans have the chance to win “a sunset cruise in the harbor on a recreated and fully kitted Vikings longboat with the cast of the show.” In addition to this, Vikings fans can also enter Valhalla. Seriously. Well, actually it’s just via The Bludgeon Booth, which is an Instagram booth offering fans the chance to dress in authentic Viking costumes and recreate scenes from the Vikings TV series. And if drinking like a Viking is more your thing, Comic-Con will be distributing “period specific horn-shaped beer mugs” for Vikings fans to use throughout the Gaslamp district.
While History Channel’s Vikings has been on a slow burn in relation to gaining popularity, it seems people are starting to predict Emmy wins for the show. So far, Vikings has received a few nominations. In its first season, it received nominations for Best Sound Editing, Best Visual Effects in a Supporting Role, and Best Main Title Design. Then, last year, it got nominated for Best Visual Effects in a Supporting Role, losing out again to its competition. With Vikings now on the Emmys radar, it is likely only time before it gets a chance to shine in this awards show, according to Gold Derby , a site that attempts to predict the likelihood of shows winning awards. So far, Vikings has done well, awards-wise, in overseas markets , picking up wins in the Canadian Screen Awards, Directors Guild of Canada, Gemini Awards (another Canadian award), and the Irish Film and Television Awards.
San Diego’s Comic-Con will run from July 9 12, 2015. History Channel’s Vikings is currently filming Ireland and is slated for release in 2016. Let us know if you are planning to attend and if you are looking forward to seeing the Vikings cast by commenting below!
