Everyone’s talking about NAACP member Rachel Dolezal’s racial identity controversy. Dolezal was questioned during a recent interview if she was portraying herself as an African American. Dolezal, a prominent member of the NAACP, came under fire when her parents provided a birth certificate that stated she was Caucasian and not African American.
Since the news broke, we haven’t heard from the NAACP — until now. The NAACP has reacted and issued a statement in regards to Rachel Dolezal’s race controversy and her credibility, which is now coming into question.

It sounds like the NAACP are 100 percent behind Rachel Dolezal even though many in the African-American community feel deceived by Dolezal for disguising her identity.
In a statement, the NAACP said, “For 106 years, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has held a long and proud tradition of receiving support from people of all faiths, races, colors and creeds. NAACP Spokane Washington Branch President Rachel Dolezal is enduring a legal issue with her family, and we respect her privacy in this matter. One’s racial identity is not a qualifying criteria or disqualifying standard for NAACP leadership.”
The NAACP continued, “The NAACP Alaska-Oregon-Washington State Conference stands behind Ms. Dolezal’s advocacy record. In every corner of this country, the NAACP remains committed to securing political, educational, and economic justice for all people, and we encourage Americans of all stripes to become members and serve as leaders in our organization.”
Since the news broke that Rachel Dolezal wasn’t truthful about her race, people have been making fun of the controversy, and in some cases, sending messages of hate via social media.
Here are just a few responses.

Another Twitter user wrote, “As much as she’s a f—ing idiot, you can’t compare Iggy Azalea’s culture appropriation to Rachel Dolezal’s.”
How is the organization still going to defend Rachel Dolezal for her blackface? Disgusting!

Another Twitter user said, “I can’t get over this Rachel Dolezal bs. Like b—h how long did you think you could pretend to be black w/ two completely Caucasian parents.”
Others are taking a more comedic route.

The NAACP took note of the responses and shamed those who were sending messages of hate to Dolezal.
“Hate language sent through mail and social media along with credible threats continue to be a serious issue for our units in the Pacific Northwest and across the nation. We take all threats seriously and encourage the FBI and the Department of Justice to fully investigate each occurrence.”
It’s said that Dolezal has been disguising her appearance since 2006.
Do you think the NAACP should support Rachel Dolezal?
