‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Laura Is Sticking Around Port Charles, Luke’s Exit Should Satisfy Fans
Laura Spencer has returned to Port Charles on General Hospital, and fans know that this is, at least to a significant degree, to help the show say farewell to Anthony Geary in the role of Luke Spencer. However, new General Hospital spoilers tease that Laura may not be heading back out of town as quickly as some expected. What’s the scoop?
Previous General Hospital spoilers have indicated that Laura Spencer’s return will be key to the storyline of Luke Spencer leaving town. After playing the role on-and-off for decades, Anthony Geary has decided to depart the role via what he intends to be a permanent move. The groundwork is now being laid in the current episodes teasing one last big adventure, but viewers don’t know much yet.
Soap Opera Digest shared in its last issue that though Geary is leaving this summer, the door will always be left open for his return. Fans are used to seeing Luke come and go, as Geary has often taken extended vacations, and he was off the canvas for some time last fall due to a back surgery. However, this time there is not set return, and Tony has indicated he plans to leave Los Angeles behind.
GH head writer Ron Carlivati teased that ultimately they are pleased with the storyline they’ve come up with to facilitate Geary’s exit. The writers definitely felt a lot of pressure with this one, and Carlivati says that there are familiar faces and some surprises on the way. It has already been revealed that in addition to Genie Francis showing up as Laura, Luke’s sons Lucky and Ethan will be involved this summer as well.
Though few General Hospital spoilers are known regarding Lucky and Ethan’s Port Charles return at this point, Soap Opera Digest has just revealed an interesting tidbit about Laura’s stay in town. Though it would have been easy to assume that Luke and Laura would leave Port Charles together, it seems that’s not the plan.
It is said that Luke will leave town at some point this summer. So far, a final air date for Geary has not yet been revealed beyond indicating that it will seemingly happen sometime in July. General Hospital spoilers indicate that Laura will be around through the fall. Francis says she’s very happy about the extended stay, and it’s shaping up to be a fun experience.
