Bobby Petrino Placed On Leave After Motorcycle Crash Results In Scandal

Bobby Petrino has been placed on paid leave after the Arkansas Razorbacks’ coach was found to have lied about riding a motorcycle, which he crashed, with a fellow employee half his age with whom he was having what he described as an:

“Inappropriate relationship.”

Petrino, who is married with four children, failed to mention his fellow passenger during a press conference held on Tuesday. The day of the conference, the University of Arkansas released a statement which quoted his family as having said that “no other individuals” had been involved in the motorcycle crash.

While Bobby may have managed to escape the accident with his life intact, he did suffer four broken ribs and a cracked vertebra in his neck.

Jessica Dorrell, Student-Athlete Development Coordinator for the University of Arkansas, was Petrino’s passenger when the motorcycle went skidding off the road Sunday. Petrino hired Dorrell on March 28 and her position entails the organization of the football team’s recruitment process.

In a police report covering the accident, Petrino claims sun and wind caused him to go sliding off a two-lane highway located roughly 20 miles southeast of Fayetteville, AK. Bill Sadler, Arkansas state police spokesman said that Bobby made no attempt to hide the fact that Dorrell was with him during the time of the incident. Sadler was quoted by USA Today having said:

“Coach Petrino was as cooperative as anybody that we could ever hope to encounter following the traffic crash. He was very forthcoming with information when approached by the trooper who made the initial contact Tuesday afternoon.”
