WWE News: ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes Passes Away At The Age Of 69


Wrestlers that perform in front of the big stage form a bond with the audience.

Few wrestlers are special enough to capture the WWE Universe and never let them forget who they were. Guys like the Ultimate Warrior, Owen Hart, Eddie Guerrero and many more had that innate ability to widen the eyes of the WWE Universe. Unfortunately, another WWE legend, who had that skill and bond with the WWE fans, passed away.

According to WWE.com, Dusty Rhodes, the American Dream, has passed away at the age of 69. Below is the statement on WWE’s website:

“WWE is deeply saddened that Virgil Runnels, aka ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes — WWE Hall of Famer, three-time NWA Champion and one of the most captivating and charismatic figures in sports entertainment history — passed away today at the age of 69.”

Rhodes captivated audiences all over the world with his passion for the sport and innovation on the microphone. The American Dream was never the most-skilled man in the ring, but when it came to charisma and connecting with the fans, he was truly the best.

WWE talents are already reacting to the news.

In the past few years, the WWE has lost the Ultimate Warrior and Dusty Rhodes. Both men changed the professional wrestling industry forever. They will always be remembered for what they did inside the ring, and outside the ring.

Rhodes, especially was very vocal and helpful with WWE NXT. He used to be the commissioner of the third brand of WWE and was a catalyst in its growth. Without a doubt, Dusty Rhodes left in mark on World Wrestling Entertainment. Coming up on WWE Smackdown and WWE Raw, there will certainly be a tribute to the American Dream.

**UPDATE** According to SEScoops.com Rhodes fell at his house and his kidneys were shutting down as his body became dehydrated.
