It was originally reported that Brock Lesnar wouldn’t be returning to WWE television until June 22, but it appears that WWE has changed their minds, as Wrestling News is reporting that both Heyman and Lesnar will appear on next week’s RAW show in Cleveland.
Lesnar has been off of WWE television since the night after WrestleMania , and it’s expected that he’ll be going after the WWE World Heavyweight Championship upon his return. Lesnar is also scheduled to take on Kofi Kingston at a WWE live event on July 4 in Tokyo, Japan. WWE will broadcast the event live on the WWE Network, so there’s a chance that Lesnar could start a bit of a feud with Kingston and the rest of The New Day.
There have been rumors that Lesnar will show up as a surprise at this Sunday’s Money in the Bank show and win the Money in the Bank ladder match . But as of right now, Roman Reigns is scheduled to win the briefcase, and it’s likely that he’ll be cashing it in later in the night on the winner of the Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins ladder match.
When Lesnar was last seen on WWE television, he was by far the most popular character that they had. But now — due to the recent Stone Cold Podcast with Paul Heyman — there is some concern that WWE fans will be constantly chanting for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin during Lesnar’s appearances. If the match between Austin and Lesnar was scheduled to happen, then WWE probably wouldn’t have a problem with the fans chanting for Austin, but since they’re not confident that it will, it may become a problem.
If Rollins ends up walking out of Money in the Bank as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, it’s likely that WWE will go to Rollins vs. Lesnar at WWE Battleground instead of at SummerSlam due to them wanting to do Rollins vs. Triple H at “the biggest party of the summer.”
Also, if Lesnar doesn’t end up facing Steve Austin at WrestleMania , there has been some talk of doing a Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns rematch, where Reigns will finally get the win over Lesnar. The belief in WWE is that the fans turned on Reigns last year because it was a year too soon for him to be in the main-event, but they’re confident that if he’s back in the ring with Lesnar next year, he’ll have put enough time in, and the fans will be more accepting of him being the on to finally defeat “The Beast.”
