Some LGBT Members Question Miley Cyrus And Lady Gaga Bisexuality Claims
Miley Cyrus recently revealed her bisexuality to Paper magazine. Billboard quotes Miley talking about coming out to her mother.
“I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys. And it was so hard for her to understand. She didn’t want me to be judged and she didn’t want me to go to hell. “
Miley’s mother eventually came to accept her bisexuality, but not all members of the LGBT community have — at least judging by comment sections after articles on the topic and Twitter. Commenters after an article on gay-oriented site Towleroad were quite suspicious.
“Someone let me know when she comes out as either relevant or talented,” wrote user Tre.
“Though I appreciate Miley trying to help the LGBT community, I am tired of people like her and Lady Gaga claiming they are bisexual so they can profit off us and sell more records. If this was ten years ago, neither Gaga or Cyrus would even think of using the word bisexual because it would hurt record sales,” wrote commenter Jorge.
Many were suspicious on Twitter as well.
Is Miley Cyrus just seeking attention by claiming she told her mom she was attracted to girls when she was 14? She now says she's bi sexual!

Apparently Miley Cyrus wants to shock people by "coming out" as bisexual. The only way she could shock me is by coming out as a virgin.

Miley Cyrus has not been the only pop star recently accused of faking bisexuality in order to sell records. Lady Gaga, despite all the massive work she has done for LGBT advocacy, has literally been crucified by some LGBT members since 2009 for this. However, according to the Huffington Post, Gaga has defended her bisexuality.
“You know what? It’s not a lie that I am bisexual and I like women, and anyone that wants to twist this into ‘she says she’s bisexual for marketing,’ this is a fu**ing lie. This is who I am and who I have always been.”
The reaction to Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga by some LGBT members is quite interesting, especially given that just fifteen years ago, a pop star coming out as gay or bisexual would be celebrated by the community. Some may find the current reaction of some depressing, but the fact that some people could be accused of using the LGBT community “for profit” also shows just how far the LGBT community has come.
Miley Cyrus has recently launched the Happy Hippy Foundation to help the LGBT homeless. In 2012, Lady Gaga launched the Born This Way Foundation, although it has been under fire for spending money for everything but the cause it is supposed to represent — empowering youth and the LGBT community. Gaga has denied the accusations. Do you think some LGBT members are wrong for criticizing Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga? Let us know in the comments section.
