Azealia Banks Comes After Katy Perry For ‘Trap House’ Tweet

Azealia Banks took issue with pop singer Katy Perry’s most recent tweet. The outspoken rapper called Perry out for a recent tweet that she made about her track “Dark Horse.”

Perry, who seemed to be in a very celebratory mood, thanked her fans for 1 billion views for her “Dark Horse” video.

“Guys. Wut. Dark House has reached 1 BILLION views?! I seriously heart ur b—s & ur fingers for dem clicks..*heads back to the trap house.*”

Now we’re assuming Banks took issue with Perry mentioning “trap house” because right after that Banks tweeted this.

Banks’ fans’ seemed to cheer on Azealia for taking Katy up to task.

In case you don’t know “trap house” is a crack house or the surroundings of where a drug dealer makes their money. We don’t exactly know why Katy thinks she’s heading into a trap house, or if she knows what it means, but the tweet could be seen as problematic, especially since the singer also decided to use slang within the tweet as well.

That said, it seems like Banks isn’t really mad at Katy. She was just throwing some shade.

Azealia has a history of being problematic herself. Back in March she told Playboy magazine that she hated “fat white Americans” and thought that middle America is filled with, “these racist conservative white people who live on their farms.”

For full context here’s the quote directly from Banks’ interview.

“I hate everything about this country. Like, I hate fat white Americans,” she said. “All the people who are crunched into the middle of America, the real fat and meat of America, are these racist conservative white people who live on their farms. Those little teenage girls who work at Kmart and have a racist grandma — that’s really America.”

What do you think about Katy Perry’s tweet? Do you think she was trying to “act Black” or was it was simply an ignorant tweet?
