With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set to premiere early next year, many are already speculating how the film will tie in with another upcoming DC Comics adaptation, Suicide Squad . Obviously, one common theme between the two movies is the appearance of Batman, but how else will the films connect?
One way that Batman v Superman could set the scene for Suicide Squad is if Batman arrests some of the members of the villainous group during his fight with Superman. This would give filmmakers an opportunity to introduce some of the characters set to play in the latter film next summer.
If Batman does confront some of the members of the Suicide Squad during Batman v Superman , it’s very likely that the Joker (Jared Leto) would be among them, MoviePilot speculates. This could come about as a side plot in the film, or perhaps even as a post-credit scene. Either way, it’d be a great way to set up Suicide Squad and keep it connected to the other films in the DC Comics Universe.
Whatever method is used to connect the films, it is clear that Batman is set to feature an epic showdown between the two iconic superheroes. However, with Batman being a human and Superman possessing god-like powers, how does Batman stand a chance in a fight against Superman?
In a recently released trailer, Batman can be seen wielding a strange looking weapon. Based on the images, he is carrying some kind of Kryptonite-infused club to take down Superman. This news comes after reports of Batman having Kryptonite laced armor. Exactly how he got his hands of the green mineral is yet to be revealed, but his source, if it is Lex Luthor, might be another way to connect this movie with Squad .
Despite all of the leaks from the set, director David Ayers still promises fans plenty of surprises. He even elaborated to Entertainment City on what brought him on board Suicide Squad .
“I’m all about real drama, real performance and real people, so my twist on this is I’m creating a family, I’m creating a brotherhood here. I’m creating a very real chemistry and I have this incredible ensemble of actors led by Will Smith who are basically playing dimensional characters with lives and souls.”
Suicide Squad starring Will Smith, Cara Delevigne, Jai Courtney, and Adam Beach, is set to be released to theaters August 5, 2016.
