Where were you on this one Samuel L. Jackson? Pilot Braden Blennerhassett was confronted with a real life case of snakes on a plane this past Tuesday right after taking off from Australia’s Darwin Airport.
20 minutes into the flight the pilot same something slither around the cabin at which point he tells the Australian Broadcasting Corp .:
“I turned [the plane] around and got it headed back towards Darwin there and said ‘Look, you’re not going to believe this. I’ve got snakes on a plane.’”
If that isn’t enough information to creep you out the snake slithered across the pilots leg just as he was about to land the aircraft.
At first employees at Air Frontier found the story hard to believe until Blennerhassett requested that the plane be met by a snake handler. Upon landing the snake was not found, however the airline says they will not take off again with that airplane until they are certain any threat has been removed.
On a more positive note a wildlife ranger told the Associated Press that the snake was likely a golden tree snake which is not venomous, although it can grow to be 5 feet in length.
In what might be an even more strange moment than the snake on a plane incident, the airlines director responded with:
“I have heard of crocodiles being loose in planes but not snakes.”
How in the world did a crocodile get free on a plane? I guess in the great outback anything is possible.
