Miley Cyrus Realized She Was Bisexual When She Filmed ‘Hannah Montana’

Miley Cyrus is making headlines for coming out as bisexual to the world. Not only did the wild and crazy singer pose completely nude for the Spring, 2015, issue of Paper magazine, but she also spoke out about her sexuality. Miley Cyrus revealed that she came out to her mom, Tish Cyrus, when she was just 14-years-old.

Cyrus, 22, has always been clear that she’s comfortable with her sexuality, as strange as it may seem to people and her own fans. In her new interview with Paper magazine, the “Wrecking Ball” singer revealed that she realized she was attracted to both boys and girls when she was the star of the ever-popular Hannah Montana television series. Cyrus explained to her mom, Tish, that she had feelings for both sexes.

This news may come as a shock to fans who thought Miley only dated men. All of her high-profiled relationships were with men. Though Miley never once uses the word “bisexual” in the interview, she told the interviewer that she was attracted to both men and women. It’s obvious that she sees her sexuality as “fluid.”

“I remember telling [my mom] I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys.”

The singer admitted that telling her mom wasn’t as easy at first.

“And it was so hard for her to understand. She didn’t want me to be judged and she didn’t want me to go to hell. But she believes in me more than she believes in any god. I just asked for her to accept me. And she has.”

During the time that Miley opened up to her mom, she was only 14 and the star of Disney’s successful Hannah Montana series. She was even seen wearing a purity ring at the time. So it was obvious as to why Miley had to keep her sexuality a secret at the time. The wacky entertainer also explained to the magazine that she had to keep her relationships with women under wraps.

“People never really looked at it, and I never brought it into the spotlight. I don’t relate to boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl.”

Miley Cyrus pretty much said she’s open to having a sexual relationship with any consensual adult. As previously reported via the Inquisitr, the singer also opened up about her gender identity. Cyrus felt that she could never relate to being a boy or girl. She has openly admitted in the past that she doesn’t feel like she should be placed in the boy box or the girl box.

The news about the singer’s sexuality comes on the heels of her Hannah Montana audition tape. Miley’s audition tape for the Disney series resurfaced on the internet late last week. The video shows footage of the 12-year-old girl who was full of hopes and dreams. Miley’s audition tape will also remind fans how far she’s come in her career and her personal life.
