Questions Raised By ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2’ Trailer: [Mockingjay Movie Spoilers]
It’s been quite a while since The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 dominated theaters and hearts the world over, and it’s high time Lions Gate Entertainment released The Mockingjay Part 2. But while millions wait for the actual showing of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 in theaters, Lions Gate quells the public anticipation by releasing the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer this week.
If you still haven’t seen the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer, watch it below.
It’s a very well put trailer, jam-packed with romance, explosions, and extraordinary fashion statements (thank you, Effie). But eyebrows were raised and hands shot into the air as the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer raised some interesting questions, hopefully to be answered in the coming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 movie.
Bustle came up with a very interesting question about the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer, certainly the first to be answered by the movie’s release: When does the movie start?
Everyone was left dumbfounded as Mockingjay Part 1 ended with a cliffhanger. With the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer starting with the wedding scene of Finnick and Annie, Hunger Games fans are left wondering, where in the Mockingjay timeline is this really happening? At what point from Mockingjay Part 1 does Mockingjay Part 2 take off? Like previous movies, which had their fair share of part ones and part twos —Harry Potter and the Twilight Saga to name a few — the part two would usually start with a short recap of the first movie and then randomly pick a nice scene as an opening salvo. How will Mockingjay Part 2 help its fans cope up with the gap between the two movies? Do we need to watch the Mockingjay Part 1 again as a refresher? We hope not.
What is Game of Thrones’ Brienne of Tarth doing in Panem?
Indeed, what is actress Gwendoline Christie doing in the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer? Entertainment Weekly reports that Christie wasn’t originally casted in Mockingjay Part 2. She has entered the Mockingjay cast to replace Lily Rabe, who has opted out of Mockingjay due to a previous commitment to perform Much Ado About Nothing in Central Park, New York. But now that Christie is up to play Commander Lyme in the Mockingjay Part 2 movie, we are sure to see some explosive scenes from her.
What happened to Caesar, Johanna, and Enobaria?
A pretty random list of Hunger Games characters, you may say, but these three are actually characters missing from the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer. They have been—and will continue to be—a huge part, not only of the Mockingjay, but of the Hunger Games franchise in general and we are wondering what bad thing they could have done to deserve such a punishment of not being included in the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer. Well since they still have parts to play in the Mockingjay rebellion, we certainly hope we see more of them in the Mockingjay Part 2 movie.
MTV also posed another exciting point: Who is at the other end of Katniss’ arrow?
Those who have read the Mockingjay book would already know who we are expecting to see at the sharp end of Katniss’ arrow, but it’s still a mystery at this point if what we’re thinking about the Mockingjay Part 2 scene is right. If this scene, indeed, is the final execution scene, well that’s one big giveaway by the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer.
What will the Epilogue look like?

Again, for those who read the Mockingjay book, what the epilogue would look like is another point of interest. Epilogue scenes are a pretty common sight in movies and books and some are just not very well executed—just like the Harry Potter epilogue scene. Since there have been no clues as to how The Hunger Games: Mockingjay epilogue will turn out in the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer, we can only cross our fingers and hope that the aging process will be quite on par.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will hit US theatres on November 20.
