One Direction Reach Out To Fan Who Lost Leg In Roller-Coaster Crash
Louis Tomlinson and his One Direction pals have shown across the years that they recognize that they have a social responsibility. The various members of One Direction act as ambassadors for a wide range of charitable causes and have encouraged their fans to support causes close to their hearts. One Direction fans have frequently risen to the challenge and raised huge sums of money for charities supported by the band.
Now One Direction star Louis Tomlinson have reached out to a fan who was seriously injured in a horrific Roller-Coaster accident last week. One Direction fan 17-year-old Leah Washington was riding a coaster called “The Smiler” at Alton Towers, a park in Staffordshire, England. Leah and her friends were riding at the front of a car that smashed into a stationary car. Five people were seriously injured and One Direction fan Leah, who was on a first date with a new boyfriend, had to have her left leg amputated as a result of her injuries.
Leah also missed out on seeing One Direction at Wembley last Saturday as a result of being hospitalized. One of Leah’s friends took to Twitter to reveal Leah’s plight to a number of One Direction fan accounts. The message asked for One Direction to make contact with Leah as it would “aid her recovery.”

The message was seen by One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson who responded directly to Leah’s account with a message of support. The One Direction star told Leah that they were thinking about her and hoped she gets to go home soon.

One Direction are currently on tour and their schedule has not allowed them time to visit Leah in the hospital, but a spokesperson for One Direction confirms that they did send her a video message.
“Unfortunately because of their schedule they can’t visit her in hospital, but they have offered Leah tickets to a forthcoming concert of her choice when she has recovered, and will be delighted to meet her backstage then,” they said.
Leah’s father, David, has spoken out to thank the emergency services for saving her life.
David Washington said “Leah has suffered a life-changing injury and now has many months of rehabilitation ahead of her. We would like to thank all the emergency services at the scene and all the hospital staff who saved Leah’s life.”
The owners of Alton Towers have admitted liability for the accident despite the fact that the cause is not yet known. They have stated that they will compensate the victims without the need for protracted court proceedings. It is believed that Miss Washington will receive a settlement in the region of $3 million.
