Hugh Jackman Speaks On Wolverine Possibly Having A Cameo In ‘Deadpool’ And ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’
Hugh Jackman has given word that it’s just about that time for him to officially stop playing the role of the mutant with the claws, Wolverine. After 17 years of keeping the physique needed to play the character that can’t be killed, the 46-year-old actor is ready to do different things. Still, he may don the claws again from time to time, and now he’s spoken about possibly doing cameos in Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse.
For those that may not remember, Ryan Reynolds did appears in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Deadpool. It was only for about 15 minutes near the end, but it paved way for the solo movie and possible other projects in the future.
Production has indeed wrapped on Deadpool, but rumors are going around that Jackman may end up with a cameo in the film. Huffington Post actually got to speak to Jackman on if he could comment about being in the movie about the “merc with a mouth.”
“Hmmm, I can’t…no. Nope. But, I am really good mates with [Reynolds] so…”
That doesn’t really say a whole lot, and it is known that Jackman’s last turn as the iconic mutant will be in Wolverine 3(working title). He’s spoken before about appearing opposite Deadpool though, and isn’t against it, as he told MTV U.K.
“They are definitely enemies in the comics and they always spark off well together, so I’d be open to that idea.”
Hugh Jackman was also asked if he will have a role in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, but he wasn’t very talkative about that subject either.
“Who knows?”
One thing is certain though, and it’s that someone else will soon have to take over the role of Wolverine. Jackman’s time is coming to a close, but he’s still got to prepare hard for one last time with the swooped-up hair and metal claws in his own solo film.
“Weirdly, I’m really excited about shooting it. I feel great enthusiasm. I suppose it’s denial — like the football player who announces their retirement before their last season — and so I’m really looking forward to it. But, I know its not over yet! I still got a lot of 4 o’clock mornings and a hell of a lot of egg white omelettes and steamed chicken to have, and all of that.”
17 years of playing Wolverine for Marvel Entertainment and 20th Century Fox is a really long time, but Hugh Jackman has loved it. He’s also loved the support he’s gotten from the studios and is sure that they will find someone great to take over the part in the future.
Deadpool hits theaters on February 12, 2016, and X-Men: Apocalypse is being released on May 27, 2016. Technically, Hugh Jackman could be Wolverine in both films before officially being done since Wolverine 3 won’t be out until March of 2017. For now, it’s just rumors, but fans are hoping that he will be in both.
