WWE Rumors: Recently Reunited Wyatt Family Taunting Legendary ECW Tag Team – Could WWE Bring Back The Dudley Boyz?
Erick Rowan and Luke Harper recently reunited to form their tag team again and bring back a portion of the Wyatt Family. Hints have been dropped quite often to a reformation of the whole family, but now new rumors are swirling about something even bigger. Now, the new/old tag team is taunting a couple of ECW legends and it could result in WWE bringing back the Dudley Boyz.
According to Cageside Seats, there has been some talk of WWE possibly bringing the Dudley Boyz back in for another run. They would not only feud with the Wyatt Family, but also bring some more strength to a tag team division that has been growing lately.
Now, that doesn’t lend a whole lot to the rumors of a Dudleyz return, but what happened on WWE Superstars this week does.
As WrestleZone reported, Rowan and Harper took on Los Matadores on Superstars and picked up a win. The more intriguing news is how they got the win, and it was the the 3D aka Dudley Death Drop – the signature move of the Dudley Boyz.
Reports have been circulating in the past couple of weeks that Rowan and Harper were using the move at WWE Live house shows too. A Reddit user said that Harper defeated Zack Ryder at a show in Westchester, and Rowan came out after to deliver the 3D.
It’s obvious that a Dudley Boyz return would make a lot of business sense for WWE, and it would be a successful one. All they have to do is look back at January when Bubba Ray Dudley appeared in the Royal Rumble to a huge ovation.
The Dudley Boyz (Team 3D in TNA) would likely have their names once again Bubbay Ray Dudley (Bully Ray in TNA) and D-Von Dudley (Devon in TNA), and that’s an easy change. Bubba has even teased heading to NXT just in the last month alone.
Not only would the fans love to see the return of the Dudley Boyz, but it would truly help the tag division. Lately, there has been one main feud and it’s the tag team champs and the number one contenders. Right now, that’s The New Day and the Prime Time Players, who will meet at Money In The Bank.
During that time, all the other teams just kind of fight pointlessly with no real feud direction. An alternate feud could help the tag division become much bigger and relevant. The good thing is that the Wyatt Family and the Dudley Boyz don’t need to be fighting over the belts to make it fun.
Right now, the tag division is bigger than it has been in years:
- The New Day
- The Ascension
- Rowan and Harper
- Los Matadores
- Prime Time Players
- Brass Ring Club (Tyson Kidd’s injury is a big loss)
- The Lucha Dragons
The rumored return and addition of the Dudley Boyz could really make for some fun times in WWE. The Wyatt Family using the 3D as their finishing maneuver and speaking recently of “family” can’t be just coincidence so the Rowan and Harper may visit Dudleyville soon.
