Waitress Receipt Viral: Waitress Pays For Grieving Couple’s Meal After Learning Their Newborn Daughter Died
Kayla Lane interacts with many customers on a daily basis, but one couple recently touched her heart. After learning they’d recently suffered a devastating loss, she decided to do something that would make their day a little brighter. Now, her random act of kindness has gone viral.
According to CBS-DFW, Shaun and Debbie Riddle never thought a waitress they’d met weeks ago would leave such an impact on their life. They recently visited the West Side Cafe in Dallas where they crossed paths with the waitress again. She said she’d remembered them and their newborn daughter, Glory, so she decided to ask about the baby. Although her concern was completely innocent, it was quite obvious she had no idea the baby had passed.
“They kind of looked at each other and were very silent,” said Lane. “We said, well, she passed away four weeks ago,” Shaun Riddle explained. “And she immediately [said] ‘Oh my gosh! I’m sorry!'”
It has been reported that the baby died in her sleep at only nine-weeks-old, reports Global News. The baby took a nap and never woke up. The cause of her mysterious death is still unknown. The couple left such an impact on the waitress, she even felt compelled to do something nice for them the day they dined at the restaurant. When they finished eating and asked for the check, they received quite a surprise. Lane left the couple a simple message on their receipt.
She informed them that their meal had been paid for. “Your ticket has been paid for. We are terribly sorry for your loss. God Bless. – The West Side,” the receipt said. Although Lane initially told the couple that the company paid for their meal, the manager at the restaurant later confirmed Lane had indeed paid for the meal with her own money. The couple was so shocked by the waitress’ act of kindness, they decided to share a photo of the receipt via social media. Thousands have commended Lane for her act of kindness, but surprisingly, the manager revealed she’s had a habit of helping others quite often.
