Jonathan Jackson, Nathan Parsons Return: ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers Reveal Family Send-Off For Luke Spencer

Fans will be saying goodbye to Luke Spencer this summer on General Hospital, and it seems the show is pulling out all the stops. Now reports indicate that as many speculated, Jonathan Jackon and Nathan Parsons are returning in the roles of Lucky Spencer and Ethan Lovett to be a part of the storyline of Luke’s farewell. What General Hospital spoilers are available on this development so far?

Viewers had been buzzing for a bit now that Lucky and Ethan might be returning, but the news has just now been confirmed by Entertainment Weekly. Jonathan Jackson and Nathan Parsons return for short arcs this summer to work alongside show veterans Anthony Geary, Genie Francis, and Emma Samms. Last month, Geary confirmed that after quite a bit of speculation, he indeed was leaving the show, and his plan is that this departure is permanent this time.

So far, it’s not known just how Luke will depart. However, ABC has confirmed that Genie Francis is returning as Laura Spencer and that her return is tied to Luke’s departure. She has already been filming scenes though so far the show hasn’t revealed a beginning air date for Laura’s return.

Not only is Laura involved in Luke’s farewell, but with the confirmation of Jonathan Jackson and Nathan Parsons’ return as well, that means the family is all coming together for whatever lies ahead. This summer, Luke has one more big adventure to tackle, and he will spend significant time with Lulu, Sonny, Bobbie, and Laura. Now that it’s official Jonathan Jackson and Nathan Parsons are returning as well, viewers can certainly bank on Lucky and Ethan being a part of this big adventure and goodbye. The show teases that Luke’s departure will leave lasting consequences for those remaining in Port Charles, but little more is known at this point.

As ABC notes, Jackson has been away from the role of Lucky Spencer for a bit now and he’s currently busy playing Avery Barkley on Nashville. Jonathan also keeps quite busy touring with his music in his regular life. As for Parsons, he played Ethan for four years and left in 2013. Since his exit from Port Charles, he’s gone on to work on The Originals and True Blood.

At this point, it’s not known how long Lucky, Laura, Holly, or Ethan will be in Port Charles or when they’ll pop up. It does seem clear, however, that with the show paving the way for Emma Samms, Genie Francis, Jonathan Jackson, and Nathan Parsons to return that Anthony Geary’s General Hospital departure is going to be a key focus of the episodes ahead this summer.
