Mackenzie Douthit Confirms Marital Troubles With Husband Josh McKee: ‘It Got Pretty Bad’
Mackenzie Douthit and her husband Josh McKee were rumored to have broken up weeks ago, but today, things are much better between the former Teen Mom 3 pair.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, things between Mackenzie Douthit and her husband of nearly two years became strained earlier this year after Douthit crashed her brand new — and uninsured — Kia SUV into a ditch, costing her and her husband a ton of cash. According to a TMZ report at the time, Mackenzie Douthit’s husband had walked out on her and threw her wedding ring in the toilet.
During a June 4 interview with Wetpaint Entertainment, Mackenzie Douthit explained what really went on between her and McKee, and assured fans their marriage is currently intact.
“It got pretty bad and he did leave for a while, and we decided that we were going to get a divorce and separate. He went and stayed somewhere else, and we just decided that we don’t want to live without each other, and he came back, and he said, ‘I’m sorry.’ But I can’t put all the blame on him or all the blame on me because we just could not get along for the life of us.”
Mackenzie Douthit and her husband tied the knot in the summer of 2013, following appearances on MTV’s 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom 3, which chronicled their lives as young parents. Months after the couple wed, Mackenzie Douthit announced she was expecting again, and in February of last year, she and McKee welcomed their second child, daughter Jaxie, who joined their older son, Gannon.
“We’re still working on stuff. Marriage is always a work in progress and sometimes it will get perfect, and then a door will slam in my face and it will get bad again, and we won’t agree on stuff, or whatever. But I don’t know, I don’t feel like I could ever live without him. If he leaves it’s really going to hurt me.”
Mackenzie Douthit went on to reveal fans’ positive comments online have inspired her to stay in her marriage and continue to work on her relationship with McKee.
“In the end, I’m glad I’ve held on and stayed with him because he really is a good husband and he’s really patient with me. I’m a really hard person to be married to. I don’t know how he does it some days. It’s vice versa also!”
Mackenzie Douthit will celebrate her wedding anniversary later this month (although she and McKee married in June, 2013, they didn’t hold a ceremony until August of that same year).
