2015 Belmont Stakes Betting Guide: Complete Odds, Expert Picks, And How To Bet Online
Fans who want to bet on the 2015 Belmont Stakes and want something a little more in-depth than picking the coolest name are in luck, as this betting guide will reveal what experts are saying and even help with placing a bet online.
Like last year’s race, the 2015 Belmont Stakes has the added drama of a potential Triple Crown winner. Last year it was California Chrome winning the Kentucky Derby and Preakness before falling short in the Belmont. This year American Pharoah will try to be the first Triple Crown winner in nearly four decades, and comes into the race as a favorite.
The horse that won both of the first two legs of this year’s Triple Crown is coming in at 3-5 odds, leading the field for Saturday afternoon’s race.
Here are the complete list of odds for all horses, along with their post positions (as of Thursday morning):
1 Mubtaahij 10-1
2 Tale of Verve 15-1
3 Made From Lucky 12-1
4 Frammento 30-1
5 American Pharoah 3-5
6 Frosted 5-1
7 Keen Ice 20-1
8 Materiality 6-1
Though American Pharoah is the betting favorite, not all experts think he will win the 2015 Belmont Stakes.
Hank Goldberg doesn’t think there will be a Triple Crown winner this year, CBS Sports reported.
“Instead, Hammerin’ Hank likes Frosted (5-1) to take the crown at the Belmont on Saturday with Keen Ice (20-1) and American Pharoah (3-5) in his exacta box. Frosted will take the crown because he can come from off the pace and turn the home stretch into a speed duel with American Pharaoh.”
But Goldberg added that rain could change everything. American Pharoah has an advantage in the mud, he noted.
“I talked to Nick Zito, who trains Frammento, and he said if it rains on Saturday we can all go home,” Goldberg said.
Other expert picks for the 2015 Belmont Stakes are higher on American Pharoah, with several others picking him to win.
Those who want a little more in-depth betting advice can turn to Kevin Martin of CBS Philly, who offered a complete guide of how he would bet $100 on the 2015 Belmont Stakes.
“Frosted is the most likely candidate to upset this year’s Triple Crown bid so I’ll put $40 on his nose to win. He last raced in the Kentucky Derby where he started poorly but made a huge forward move on the final turn to finish a fast closing fourth. His jockey, Joel Rosario, has fresh memories of his winning ride aboard Tonalist in last year’s Belmont Stakes. With so much of the win pool going towards the favorite, Frosted is a solid play at odds likely around 5-1.”
Martin’s complete guide can be found here.
Those who want to bet on the 2015 Belmont Stakes online but want to avoid shady or potentially illegal sites are in luck as well. The race’s official site has a guide to (legal) betting on the race, including a link to the official betting partner.
