Scotty McCreery Goes Platinum, Starts Looking For University To Attend
Scotty McCreery parlayed his American Idol season 10 victory into a Platinum-selling debut album and now he’s getting ready to graduate high school in June and then head off to college after that milestone is accomplished.
The 18-year-old singer told PEOPLE this week:
“I’ll be going to college in the fall. We’re gonna work classes around [and] head out on the weekends on the road or something. We’re gonna work it out.”
Scotty has spent his senior year learning on the road as he performed with country superstars Brad Paisley and The Band Perry.
While he may be balancing a whole lot of work he also managed to rack up an Academy of Country Music nominee for new artist of the year.
McCreery has also revealed that he has been accepted to four colleges although he has not yet settled on which university he’ll attend.
According to Scotty McCreery:
“We’re gonna figure it out and decide as a family. I grew up rooting for NC State, and that’s where my dad went. But also, there are schools in Nashville that have been really great – and that’s Music City so we’ll see.”
Scotty says he won’t study music but instead is thinking a marketing degree is in his future. When you’re getting your music education from Brad Paisley it makes sense that you would learn from a country superstar in the real world and not a teacher in a classroom.
Now we just have to wait and see which university Scotty McCreery attends. Perhaps Scotty will become the next James Franco, balancing tons of classes with a very active work schedule.
