Wiz Khalifa Returns To No. 1 On Billboard ‘Hot 100’: Sorry, Taylor Swift
There is great news for Wiz Khalifa this week. After falling to No. 2 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 last week, he is back at No. 1. Billboard broke the news on Wednesday afternoon.
“After a one-week break, Wiz Khalifa’s Furious 7 soundtrack hit ‘See You Again,’ featuring Charlie Puth, returns to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, rebounding 2-1.”
Billboard notes that the song has now spent seven weeks at No. 1. “See You Again” is No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart and the Streaming Songs chart. Khalifa is down 19 percent on the Digital Songs chart, but still No. 2 in overall sales.
While Wiz Khalifa is certainly celebrating, Taylor Swift most likely isn’t. “Bad Blood,” which received a boost after the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, drops to No. 2. Billboard explains the chart position.
“The drop of ‘Blood’ isn’t surprising: it soared last week following a full week of activity after its BBMAs video launch. Following the initial buzz, the track leads Digital Songs for second week, but with a 37 percent loss to 241,000. On Streaming Songs, it falls 3-4 (12 million, down 34 percent).”
Wiz Khalifa recently opened up to MTV about his hit song, which is a tribute to the late Paul Walker.
“To have the responsibility to do the Paul Walker record was really dope… I basically thought about what the movie stands for as far as family and the brotherhood, and of course, using the metaphor of the last ride and the last race because of that last scene.”
Meanwhile, Wiz Khalifa’s ex, Amber Rose, says the tattoo of him isn’t coming off anytime soon. MTV quoted the star in an interview about Khalifa.
“If I’m gonna eventually get married to someone else and they feel some type of way about it, then I will [remove the tattoo]. I’m not in a rush. We have a baby together. I think if we didn’t have Bash it would be different,” Rose claims.
Rose notes that her son enjoys seeing his dad on her arm all the time. It’s a great thing that Rose puts family first. She is probably even happy that Wiz’ career is really starting to take off in a major way, even if he has been around for a while.
“See You Again” has the potential to spend several more weeks at No. 1, but Taylor Swift, whose song is gaining heavily on radio, may just jump back to the top spot in the next couple of weeks. Even if she doesn’t, Swift can always claim “Bad Blood” topped the charts. Next week’s chart positions for both Wiz Khalifa and Taylor Swift will be made public by next Wednesday morning.
