Nicky Hilton will tie the knot with billionaire boyfriend James Rothschild at Kensington Palace, the “official” home of Prince William and Princess Kate, Us Weekly is reporting .
William and Kate (and the royal babies ) won’t be at Nicky’s wedding for a couple of reasons. For one thing, they don’t actually live at Kensington Palace (they’re staying at another British royal palace: Anmer Hall), and for another, they don’t appear to have been invited.
Nicky and James’ wedding will take place in a Kensington Palace outbuilding known as The Orangery , which was built in 1704 to house Queen Anne’s beloved orange trees. It’s actually a popular — and expensive — site for weddings in the U.K. If you’re interested in your own Kensington Palace wedding (well, a wedding at a Kensington Palace outbuilding, that is — the royal residence proper is off-limits), you can get a package deal complete with food, wine, and officiant, for the low low price of £6,100 (about $9,300 at current exchange rates) — pocket change for a hotel heiress and a banking heir.
That’s not to say that Nicky and James’ wedding won’t be an expensive affair — in March, according to Brides Magazine , Ms. Hilton was at Fashion Week in Paris, talking to top-tier fashion designers about who would get the job of designing her wedding gown.
It looks like princesses and fairy tales are Nicky’s wedding theme, which may have played a part in their decision to book a royal palace for their big day. Last week, Nicky threw a princess-themed bridal shower at a tony L.A. country club, and posted about it on social media.
Nicky Hilton and James Rothschild met at a wedding — mutual friends Petra Ecclestone and James Stunt’s in 2011 — and have been dating since then. The banking billionaire popped the question last summer at Italy’s destination for the rich & famous, Lake Como.
One person who won’t be at Kensington Palace for Nicky & James’ wedding will be Nicky and Paris’ younger brother, Conrad. The naughty millionaire playboy has had several brushes with the law — currently, he’s on house arrest for threatening flight attendants during a famous in-flight meltdown .
Nicky Hilton’s Kensington Palace wedding will take place July 10.
