Ellie Goulding Slams Music Industry Double Standards, Says Dougie Is ‘The One’
“Love Me Like You Do” singer Ellie Goulding has just returned to London after a lengthy vacation in L.A. with boyfriend Dougie Poynter. Ellie and Dougie may have just recovered from their long overnight flight but they are already tripping the light fantastic on the award show circuit. According to the Daily Mail, Ellie and Dougie rocked up at Glamour Magazine’s Women Of The Year Awards in London’s posh Berkeley Square last night, and 28-year-old Ellie took the opportunity to put a few rumors to bed.
After picking up her award for up her Cointreau Solo Artist, Ellie revealed that she is head-over-heels in love with McBusted bass player Dougie. Ellie confessed that she thought hunky Dougie was way out of her league.
“[M]y boyfriend is the coolest person in the world. Definitely punching above my weight. He is definitely the one forever. He’s been through a lot, and he has a quiet depth that I love.”
Ellie looked sensational as she took to the stage to accept her award, her unusual dress boasting a lace-up bodice and tiered skirt, floor length at the back and short in front, which looked great on her trim, toned and gym-honed figure. A pair of strappy black heels and a statement belt around her waist topped off the racy look, and her short blonde hair loose and wavy.

The Mirror reveals that Ellie has also taken the opportunity to quash some rumors that have been bouncing around for some time. Goulding has told Elle Magazine that stories about her and fell British singer Ed Sheeran were totally untrue. The tabloid press and social media went into meltdown when Sheeran appeared to confirm that his song “Don’t” was inspired by Goulding.
The whispers suggested that Ellie was at the center of a pop love triangle, dating Sheeran but cheating on him with One Direction star Niall Horan. Beautiful Ellie confirmed that she did have some dates with Horan but was never involved with Sheeran.
Ellie said “I did go on a few dates with Niall, but I was never in a relationship with Ed, I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing.”
Ellie goes on to state that she gets frustrated by the way women in the music industry are subject to double standards in the way they are defined according to who they have dated.
“I find it so frustrating that female musicians are constantly defined by the men they have or haven’t dated. It’s like, you can be a great artist, you can write great songs, but the thing that everyone is going to talk about is some relationship they think you have had or not had.”
For his part, Sheeran has also gone on record to state that he did not date Ellie Goulding. Ed revealed that a British tabloid printed that he had confirmed the story and although they later retracted the damage was done.
