Melissa McCarthy: Own Design From ‘Melissa McCarthy Seven7’ And 50-Pound Weight Loss Wow On ‘Spy’ Red Carpet [Photos]
Melissa McCarthy is showcasing her own designs in her clothing line. Although “Melissa McCarthy Seven7” doesn’t officially launch until late summer, Melissa proudly wore one of the dresses from the new clothing line to her Spy premiere, reported People.
McCarthy revealed that she also takes pride in having done her own stunts for the action thriller. And after losing a reported 50 pounds, those stunts showcased her slimmer body.
“I did a lot of [stunts] — I did everything that they let me do,” declared the actress.
And although it was both bruise-inducing and painful, Melissa loved the challenge.
“I threw my back out a couple of times, but after all that, it was weirdly fun … It’s challenging. It’s like a big run or something when you don’t think you can get through it and then you do and you’re kind of like, ‘Oh my God.’ You kind of feel proud of yourself for getting through it.”
As the Inquisitr reported, McCarthy’s weight loss diet involved cutting carbohydrates and eating protein. The comedian chose the low-carb diet because with two daughters, she dreams of becoming a healthy grandmother one day to their own children, said a source.
“Melissa knows that fans love her big and beautiful, and she’s not obsessed with dieting, She’s looking for a happy medium. Melissa realized she wasn’t being as healthy as she could be. She wants to set a good example for her kids and she wants to be around to become a grandmother too.”
But in terms of “big and beautiful,” McCarthy also wants to send a message to her fans that all sizes are beautiful by creating her own designs in a line that goes beyond the usual designer dress size 12, reported Today.
“People don’t stop at size 12,” pointed out Melissa.
And she also slammed shopping malls for what she views as a prejudice against plus-size women.
“I feel like there’s a big thing missing where you can’t dress to your mood above a certain number. [Malls] segregate plus-size [women]. It’s an odd thing that you can’t go shopping with your friends because your store is upstairs hidden by the tire section. We’ll put you gals over there because we don’t want to see you and you probably don’t want to be seen.”
By providing her own designs in sizes 4 to 28, the actress hopes that Melissa McCarthy Seven will empower women of all ages and sizes.
