Caitlyn Jenner’s Mom Reacts To ‘Vanity Fair’ Cover: ‘She’s Beautiful’

Caitlyn Jenner’s big revelation on the cover of Vanity Fair garnered support from fans, friends, and family members. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Caitlyn’s daughters and step-daughters showed their support by posting tweets and Instagram photos with kind words for Caitlyn, who they know as their father.

Caitlyn’s revelation started with a tell-all interview with Diane Sawyer on 20/20 in April. During the interview, several family members were featured, including her mother, Esther.

Esther, 88, fully supports Caitlyn’s transition, but back then, she mentioned that she wasn’t quite ready to talk about the transition process with her. However, Caitlyn’s mom said that the she learned a lot from the 20/20 special. “I think it was very educational and I hope to get more education,” Esther said, according to the Daily Mail.

Cailyn Jenner’s mother also had a sweet message for her.

“I want you to be happy, and I love you. I was very proud of you when you stood on that podium in Montreal – I never thought I could be more proud of you, but I’m learning I can be.”

In 1976, Jenner received a Gold Medal at the Summer Olympics in Montreal, which was a proud moment for her mom. Now, Caitlyn’s mom is once again beaming with pride.

Despite the love and support Esther continues to give Caitlyn, she admitted that she once thought about why Caitlyn wanted to go through a transition. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Caitlyn’s mom revealed what her concerns were.

“I woke up one night and all I was thinking about is: Why is it necessary to go through all these surgeries? Is that all about making money? And that was bothering me.”

Caitlyn has already answered her mom’s question, according to Vanity Fair, and it seems that it’s also the question on many people’s minds.

“I’m not doing it for money. I’m doing it to help my soul and help other people. If I can make a dollar, I certainly am not stupid. [I have] house payments and all that kind of stuff. I will never make an excuse for something like that. Yeah, this is a business. You don’t go out and change your gender for a television show. O.K., it ain’t happening. I don’t care who you are.”

Now that Esther has seen Caitlyn after the transition, she only has one thing to say. Caitlyn’s mom was interviewed by Access Hollywood shortly after the Vanity Fair cover was revealed on Monday. Her response to the cover shot?

“She’s beautiful.”

Esther continued on to say that she has already met Caitlyn even before the beautiful photos were revealed.

“I was there last week, well actually, I got home a week and a half ago. And I met Caitlyn. She is… so much more at ease.”

Although Caitlyn has her mom’s full support, Esther says that she will still continue to call Caitlyn by the name that she gave her.

“I still have to call him Bruce. His father and I named him that. It’s going to be a struggle for me to get used to the change, but happily so… I’m very happy for him – or her!”

As for Caitlyn, it seems that using her new name will also need some getting used to.

“A guy came in the other day and I was fully dressed – it’s just habit, I said, ‘Hi, Bruce here,’ and I went, Oh f***, it ain’t Bruce, I was screwing up doing it.”
