Bruce Jenner Honored As Caitlyn Jenner At 2015 ESPYs
Bruce Jenner just introduced himself as Caitlyn Jenner a few hours ago, but she’s already racking up some attention due to her bravery, and her willingness to be open with her journey in the public eye.
According to E!, ESPN confirmed that Caitlyn Jenner will be receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award in July. It will be the first time the reality star has been honored as Caitlyn Jenner.
Caitlyn will be following in the footsteps of openly gay football player Michael Sam, Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, and college basketball coach Pat Summitt. These important figures in our culture, who have bridged the gap in acceptance, have all received the Arthur Ashe Courage award.
As the Inquisitr reported, Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, revealed her identity in a cover story for Vanity Fair. In a spread shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, Caitlyn Jenner is posed with her arms behind her back and her body jutted out — very Marilyn Monroe-esque. A powerful image for a person who was trapped in a man’s body for so long. Not only that, a person who had to be the image of masculinity, thanks to her Olympian status.
In a behind-the-scenes featurette of the Vanity Fair shoot, Caitlyn said of her former self, “Bruce always had to tell a lie. He was always living that lie. Every day he always had a secret, from morning till night. Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets. As soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out, I’m free.”

As for the significance of the name Caitlyn, Jenner told Vanity Fair that “The name is what he always loved when he thought about this [female] part of his life.”
Back in April, she sat down with Diane Sawyer. At the time, she was still transitioning and wanted to be referred to using male pronouns because she wasn’t comfortable just yet. When asked about her name, she didn’t reveal it, saying, “The media would go crazy.” When the cameras turned off, Sawyer and Caitlyn went to dinner together.
Here’s some reaction to Caitlyn’s big debut.
It’s been hours and I still can’t get over how breathtaking @Caitlyn_Jenner ‘s Vanity Fair cover is. As beautiful outside as she is in

Really proud of @Caitlyn_Jenner today. Transition is never easy, particularly in the public eye, but she has done so with admirable grace.

Some people say she bares a striking resemblance to actress Jessica Lange.
