Jerry Lee lewis Married: ‘Great Balls of Fire’ Singer Weds for the 7th Time
Rock & Roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis has gotten married once again.
The 76-year-old ‘Great Balls of Fire’ singer reportedly tied the knot for the 7th time with his caregiver Judith Brown in Natchez, Mississippi on March 9.
His plans to marry Brown, 62, were so secret that his live-in daughter Phoebe was unaware of the wedding, according to People magazine.
People writes that Jerry’s latest bride not only takes care of the singer but is also the ex-wife of Lewis’ second cousin Rusty Brown, whose sister, Myra Gale Brown, was Lewis’ third wife.
Their controversial wedding in 1957 – Myra was just 13 at the time – caused a scandal that helped derail Lewis’ then high-flying career. Myra and Lewis divorced 13 years later.
Lewis and his sixth wife, Kerrie McCarver, were married for 20 years and had a child. They were divorced in 2004, after they both accused each other of infidelity. Kerrie was awarded a $250,000 settlement and $30,000 a year for five years, plus child support for their son.
Speaking about his attitude to life and marriage in 2009, Jerry said:
”I’ve learned to be one of the hardheadedest cats in the world. I’ve learned that.
”My daddy told my mama – I wanted to go get married the first time, and boy, she was crying and carrying on, and my daddy said, ‘Leave him alone, Mammy. You know how hardheaded he is. Hardheaded as a rock.’ I was sixteen. That was in Louisiana.”
What are your thoughts Jerry Lee Lewis tying the knot for the seventh time? Do you find it sad that marriage is being treated more like a contract than a covenant these days?
