Jaden Smith’s Prom Dress: Amandla Stenberg’s Date Looks Like A Lamp

Jaden Smith’s prom dress looks nothing like the bedazzled, pageant-lite gowns that girls wear to prom — it sort of resembles a lampshade.

It’s no secret that Jaden Smith has a wild sense of style inspired by superheroes and women’s wear, but the prom dress he recently rocked was actually a rather subdued look for the edgy teen. In fact, it was understated enough that he didn’t steal the spotlight away from his date, Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg. It looks like Jaden possibly borrowed his over-sized blazer from father Will Smith, but there’s no way a stylish woman like his mother, Jada Pinkett-Smith, had that lampshade kilt in her closet. Jaden paired his stiff dress with black leggings, black sneakers, and a black T-shirt. Amandla Stenberg chose to rock a black and gold frock, and she accessorized her look with a spiky septum ring and silver braids.

Jaden probably wore leggings underneath his prom dress because he’s already learned a tough life lesson about what can happen when “you swerve too hard.” According to People, Jaden Smith tweeted about this issue back in April before he demolished his Twitter account.

“That Moment When Your Wearing A Dress With No Pants And You Swerve Way To Hard,” Smith mused.

According to People, Jaden Smith attended Amandla Stenberg’s prom on Friday night. Amandla shared plenty of pictures of the edgy looks that she and her date wore to the event, including one that provides a closer look at their accessories.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Jaden dressed up like Batman for a different prom earlier this month. He left his faux muscles at home this time around, but his fingerless gloves with metallic accents were a part of his beloved white Batman costume, and they can be seen in one of his previous prom photos. Jaden Smith’s other date, Mecca “Crystal Mec” Kalani, shared the picture below on her Instagram page.

There’s no word on whether Jaden Smith and Amandla Stenberg are dating or if they’re just friends, but it’s interesting that the After Earth actor is hanging out with a Hunger Games star when he’s more of a Twi-hard fan — according to Celebuzz, Smith once tweeted, “I Watch Twilight Every Night.” Perhaps Jaden will try to invite Mackenzie Foy to prom next year, and maybe the stylish starlet will help him choose a prom dress that looks less like a lampshade.
