Sam Smith And Boy George: Sharing More Than Just A Street Address
Sam Smith has bought and moved into the house right next to Boy George’s North London home – but you already know this since the Inquisitr posted about that yesterday.
What has become apparent overnight, though, is that Sam Smith and Boy George appear to share more than just a North London street address.
Even before Sam Smith became Boy George’s neighbor, fans had been drawing similarities between the two musical superstars. First, there are the comparisons between Sam Smith and Boyd George musically.
Obsessed with the intoxicating voice of @samsmithworld. #SamSmith looks like a cross between Boy George & George Michael…I’m a fan of both

Most striking, however, are the comparisons between Sam Smith and Boy George’s physical looks.

Fans have queried whether Sam Smith and Boy George are somehow related.

Some people go so far as to query (jokingly, we can only assume) whether Sam Smith and Boy George might be the same person.

Then there are parallels drawn between Sam Smith and Boy George in terms of their status as gay music icons. After coming out last year to his fans (but coming out at the tender age of 4-years-old to his friends and family), Sam Smith told the Mirror on May 20 that he is happy to talk about his sexuality and wants to do what he can to help gay youth around the world.
“I would like to become a voice for gay youth in difficulty around the world. I just created a foundation.”
In the interview, Sam Smith also spoke about being victimized during his childhood and claimed that the abuse hasn’t stopped since becoming famous.
“When I moved to London I got punched in the neck walking back from work. It was definitely homophobic. I was on the phone speaking quite loudly and had pink earphones on so it was pretty clear I was gay.”
It seems Sam Smith is having the last laugh and is enjoying his superstar status after everything he has endured.
“I like the idea that there may have homophobic guys who listen to my record and they have no clue that I’m gay!”

Then, of course, there are always going to be those comments that just plain don’t make sense.
Is it really a surprise that Sam Smith is gay? He looks like Boy George ? — BJM (@marcyyyy1) May 29, 2015
This is a good news story all around, though, as both superstars have only ever had good things to say about each other.
Boy George spoke about Sam Smith back on August 26, 2014, when he appeared on Fuse’s Top 20 Countdown, saying that he has “a beautiful voice,” New Next Now reported.
“We’ve actually talked about doing something together – I met him last year and we talked about maybe writing together or something, which would be great. It would be an amazing thing to do – and certainly now I’m much more open to those things.”
He did go on to say that he couldn’t see any physical similarities between himself and Sam Smith, though.
“Apparently there’s this obsession that he looks like me when I was, like 20 – but I really can’t see the similarity at all.”
Sam Smith has made similar comments about Boy George.
Sam Smith on @BoyGeorge ? “I absolutely love Boy George,he’s so amazing and so funny. Boy George is great. To be compared to him is great.”
