Chris Weidman Almost Pooped His Pants During Vitor Belfort Fight At UFC 187
Despite the fact that UFC 187 should somewhat be a failure due to the absence of Jon Jones and Khabib Nurmagomedov, it was actually a massive success. Though the biggest winner of the night was Daniel Cormier, who is now the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Chris Weidman was also successful in his fourth defense of his UFC Middleweight Championship against Vitor Belfort. Not only that, Weidman is now 13-0 in UFC.
However, Chris Weidman’s successful defense and extension of his undefeated streak would have meant absolutely nothing if he wasn’t able to tough out the situation he was in. Apparently, Weidman was very close to pooping his pants during his fight against Vitor Belfort. That sounds absolutely ridiculous but Weidman himself confirmed the situation.
Chris Weidman made confirmation on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, during his time slot on the MMA Hour, according to MMA Fighting. Weidman had to use the restroom so badly that he nearly became the first fighter to ever stall a bout to take care of business. However, Chris Weidman toughed it out.
“I’ll be honest. It was my first time ever that I had to go to the bathroom bad. I could not believe this was going to happen. I’m going to crap myself in the middle of this cage. I didn’t know, as soon as Vitor’s walkout music came on, was concentrating, all I could think about was that I didn’t know if I should run into the bathroom now or hold it. I didn’t know what was going to happen. That’s really what was going through my mind the whole time walking out. I thought I would be the first person that had to run from a fight to go to the bathroom, or they’d have to hold the fight for me. But, I didn’t want to tell anybody because when you say it out loud it makes things worse. So, when we were getting ready to do the walkout, I gave Ray my flag, usually I hold it, but I gave it to him so I could focus on not crapping myself pretty much. So yeah, you were right, there was definitely something not normal.”
What you may not know is the aforementioned situation isn’t a new scenario for Chris Weidman. According to SB Nation, Weidman’s bowels have given him problems in the past. He revealed that during a sparring session, he once pooped himself.
In conclusion, for those who saw Chris Weidman at UFC 187 and thought he looked terrible, we now know the reason why. Luckily for him, Weidman was able to finish the fight in the first round. But what if Weidman lost? Would he actually give the crappiest reason why?
In all seriousness though, let’s hope this situation isn’t cursed with that saying, “third times a charm.” One is sure nobody wants to see Chris Weidman drop a number two in the middle of the Octagon.
