Wilmer Valderrama Saved Demi Lovato’s Life: ‘I Wouldn’t Be Alive Without Him’
How many women can say they owe their lives to Wilmer Valderrama?
Perhaps not many, but on-again-off-again girlfriend Demi Lovato said Thursday that Wilmer Valderrama is the reason she’s alive today. At least, that’s what Lovato told Huff Post Live.
“(Valderrama will) never take credit for a lot of my sobriety and my recovery, but I guarantee it, I wouldn’t be alive without him today.”
Lovato made the comments about Wilmer Valderrama Thursday during a video to promote bipolar awareness, according to The Huffington Post. The video interview was completed in conjunction with the launch of a new website, called BeVocalSpeakUp.Com.

Lovato has long been open about her struggles with mental illness, substance abuse, and eating disorders, but Thursday was perhaps the first time that Lovato credited Valderrama with helping her to recover.
Wilmer Valderrama and Lovato have been dating on and off for more than five years, Lovato told The Huffington Post. Recently, Valderrama and the Disney-star-turned-pop-star have been more open about their relationship. Speaking about Wilmer Valderrama, Lovato revealed how she feels.
“We’re very open about our relationship. I don’t know — I think as I get older and more serious in my life, I just am proud. I’m very proud.”
Lovato said that she and Valderrama have been more open about their relationship because they’re “in control about what (they’re) able to post online” via social media. Most recently, Valderrama posted this photo of himself with Lovato to Instagram. In the caption, Wilmer Valderrama thanked Lovato for supporting him in his most recent project.
So grateful for my little lady.. She flew all the way from Vietnam to Japan, LA to then fly to NYC to support me as we announced @minorityreport at #FOXUpfront, Thank you for sharing this moment in time with me. I love you angel! Wilmer Valderrama has been working on the pilot for the small-screen sequel of Minority Report, which will act as a follow up to the 2002 Steven Spielberg movie of the same name. Valderrama plays a new character: police detective Will Blake.
And although this photo doesn’t show Lovato, Wilmer Valderrama alludes to the excitement he feels at seeing her again after filming for another project:
