Rob Kardashian has checked into rehab. The lone son in the famous Keeping Up with the Kardashians family has been battling problems for years, and he now is in a Florida treatment center that focuses on alcohol and drug addiction , reported the Daily Mail .
Known for refusing to appear in public in the past, including avoiding his sister Kim Kardashian’s wedding to Kanye West, Rob’s problems include alcohol, marijuana, cough syrup with codeine (Sizzurp), and weight gain.
“Rob is in good spirits and has a positive mindset. He quietly checked into a beachside Palm Beach County drug and alcohol in-patient rehab center over the weekend,” said an insider.
In addition, Mark Behar, who is a celebrity bodyguard and friend of both Kim and Rob, confirmed that Kardashian had made up his mind.
“He told me, ‘This is it, I just need to stick with it and do this,’” said Behar.
The rehab will help Rob with addiction problems as well as weight loss.
“His regimen includes weight loss and physical training. Rob will probably lose 10 to 20 pounds within the first few weeks by just being in rehab and daily programs relating to his detox.”
While in the treatment center in Florida, Kardashian also will have to observe the regulations. The rehab rules include no cell phones and restricted visits from either family or friends.
Rob has been photographed with friends using both marijuana and sipping Sizzurp, which combines soda with cough syrup containing codeine.
Keeping Up with the Kardashians has shown Rob’s problems and the family’s reactions. Kris Jenner feared for her son’s life and worries about his weight gain.
“If I don’t help him do something drastic, he’s going to die. He was someone who was very athletic and he’s gained over 100 pounds in the last year. I’m just waiting for this horrible thing to happen and there’s nothing we can do about it.”
Khloe Kardashian also tried to help Rob, but failed. In addition to missing Kim’s wedding, he also skipped the family’s Christmas festivities in 2014.
Although Khloe recently revealed that she thought Rob was doing better , she also expressed concerns that on his own, he might not continue his regimen, reported the Huffington Post .
“Rob definitely has his ups and downs, and he’s been struggling for the past year and a half, maybe two years, which I think we’ve all had those times in our life,” she said.
“For the last week, he’s been doing better, but I want Rob to do good consistently forever. So right now I’m really proud of him. He’s been working out a little and trying to get his groove back. And he acknowledges it — he’s aware that he’s very introverted and of course not the way he used to be,” added Khloe.
Update: Kris Jenner is denying those reports, according to Entertainment Tonight .
Jenner termed the reports that Rob is in rehab as “completely fabricated.”
As the Inquisitr reported, Keeping Up with the Kardashians also has portrayed Scott Disick’s struggle with alcoholism, for which he also checked into a rehab facility.
However, Disick courted controversy by choosing a center that allowed him to leave to party. He then exited the center after only a few days.
