George Zimmerman: Police Station Surveillance Video Shows No Bruises, Bleeding
Security camera footage of George Zimmerman at the Sanford police station on the night of Trayvon Martin‘s shooting was released to exclusively to ABC News today, and what is seen in the video appears to contradict his statement to the police.
In Zimmerman’s statement to police, he claimed that Martin attacked him before he was forced to fatally shoot the teen in “self defense”, attacks that police reports claim left him with a broken nose, a swollen lip and lacerations to the back of the head. Paramedics reportedly treated Zimmerman’s supposed injuries on the scene, but he did not go to a hospital.
In the surveillance video of Zimmerman being taken into the Sanford police station, there is no indication whatsoever that Zimmerman had a broken nose or any visible injury to his face. The video’s quality isn’t the best, but it’s clear enough that you’re able to see that Zimmerman’s nose is clearly not bleeding.
Additionally, ABC News points out in its report that an officer is seen in the video pausing to look at the back of Zimmerman’s head for any lacerations, but no evidence of any lacerations or blood, are able to be seen.
“I think the video speaks for itself,” said the family’s attorney, Benjamin Crump (via Miami Herald). “You don’t see any broken nose. You don’t see any blood on his head. You don’t see any stuff on the back of his clothes. You have to ask why did this police chief, state attorney and now this acting police chief conspire to protect George Zimmerman for killing this unarmed teenager?”
