‘The Young And The Restless’ Casting Spoilers: Avery Reportedly Leaving Genoa City

New cast spoilers regarding The Young and the Restless are out, and it seems there may be another character departure on the way. From the sounds of things, viewers may not end up too terribly shocked by this one. Which character is said to be preparing to leave Genoa City?

Young and Restless spoilers from Daytime Confidential indicate that Jessica Collins will be bidding farewell as Avery Bailey Clark soon. Collins joined Y&R in 2011 and currently is in a complicated romance scenario with her ex-husband, Joe Clark, needing her attention and her ex-fiancé, Dylan McAvoy, in a new relationship with Sharon Newman.

As fans recently saw, Sharon and Joe had a little chat and seem to be on the same page about keeping Dylan and Avery apart. However, there had been some speculation that things may not be entirely over for the previously engaged duo. Now, however, news of Collins’ apparent departure changes things up.

As Soap Opera Spy notes, at this time the network isn’t confirming Jessica Collins’ exit. In fact, it seems the show is trying to keep this one under wraps. It’s also not known as of yet whether Jessica chose to leave on her own or whether the show dictated the casting change.

Sources indicate that executive producer and head writer Chuck Pratt originally came up with a crazy plan for Avery’s departure that “would have been the worst thing the soap had ever done” and would have “been Armageddon.” However, it seems that the supposedly wild plot twist was deemed to be too much and a new plan has been put together.

Young and Restless fans are already speculating about this supposedly horrific story that was going to lead to Avery’s exit, but viewers may never know exactly what initially was proposed. Considering all of the outrageous twists and turns that viewers have seen on Young and Restless over the years, many can only imagine how crazy this plan had to have been to have been squashed for being too outrageous.

At this point, there is no word on when Jessica Collins will be departing Young and Restless, if that is indeed happening, or what happens to Scott Elrod’s character of Joe Clark. Many were eagerly anticipating some wicked scenes between Sharon and Avery over Dylan, and surely some of those are on the way in the weeks to come.
