Justin Bieber To Appear, Perform At Hong Kong Music Event Hosted By Calvin Klein Jeans
Justin Bieber will feature in a music event hosted by Calvin Klein Jeans in Hong Kong on June 11.
The Canadian superstar was unveiled as the new face — and body — of the brand’s jeans and underwear for the Spring, 2015, line in January with Dutch model Lara Stone, who will also be appearing at the concert.
Bieber won’t be the only performer to thrill at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. However, the rest of the lineup is still to be announced.
Invitations to the concert will reportedly be distributed through Calvin Klein Jeans. Images and behind-the-scenes access from the music event will be posted on calvinklein.com and the brand’s social media. Women’s Wear Daily notes that the hashtag, #calvinkleinlive, will be used in promotional content.

Calvin Klein Jeans have put on numerous music events around the world including Sao Paulo, Beijing, Paris, Berlin, Mexico City, and London. But the June 11 extravaganza will be the first time the fashion brand has hosted a large scale music event in Hong Kong.
Quite apart from Bieber’s modeling contract with Calvin Klein, his inclusion in the June 11 music event is a no brainer given the singer’s star power and social media weight. The 21-year-old was the most tweeted about artist of 2014 and topped Billboard’s 200 album chart five times by the age of 19.
He was also the lead star in the highest grossing concert-documentary in history. Namely, 2011’s Never Say Never.
South China Morning Post reports that the last time Bieber played Hong Kong was back in 2011. The singer also performed in front of thousands at the Cotai Arena, Macau, in 2013 during his Believe world tour. The outlet noted that Bieber has a sizable fan base in Hong Kong and advised would-be concertgoers to watch Calvin Klein social media for updates.
Bieber’s Calvin Klein jeans and underwear campaign came under scrutiny within days of the launch after accusations of Photoshopping. These ramped up after an unscrupulous website posted a clearly fake GIF, and claimed it showed Bieber with less muscle density and “bulge” before alleged retouching in his CK ads.
Bieber’s legal team subsequently served a cease and desist letter and threatened to sue the website for defamation. The site took down the Photoshopped GIF, recanted all their claims, and published a mealy-mouthed explanation in place of its original post.
The Calvin Klein brand later revealed over three million social media users were added to its subscribers’ numbers as a result of the Justin Bieber/Lara Stone campaign, which went on to break the internet. It is to be hoped that, in time, the stylish images that were shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott will stand apart from the overblown controversy they ignited.
Until such a time, Justin Bieber is Hong Kong bound this summer.
