Accused domestic abuser Diane Thomas (pictured above) really didn’t want to go to jail, and she was willing to do anything — and I mean anything — to keep it from happening.
According to the Smoking Gun , Thomas “pummeled” her live-in boyfriend. Then, when she was brought in to custody, she made an indecent proposal to Monroe, Louisiana, police officer Corporal Chris Ballard.
Ballard was questioning Thomas about what happened when she admitted to punching her boyfriend several times in the face and clawing him. She also called him a “b*tch,” adding that he “got in her face so she beat his a**,” according to the police statement.
After a bit of crowing, however, the reality set in for Diane Thomas that she was about to go to jail, and since she had “a good job,” that simply wasn’t an option. That’s when she made Ballard “the offer.”
According to the report, this is what she said.
“If you won’t take me to jail I will get on my knees right now. Officer I will even lick your butt hole.”
The offer backfired, though. Instead of taking her up on it, Ballard instead hit her with an additional charge of public bribery to go along with the misdemeanor domestic abuse offense.
Thomas is now free on a $5,000 bond.
The internet is now having a field day with the unusual offer, with many commenters on Facebook joking about it.
“I don’t want to live in a world where licking a strangers a****** isn’t an acceptable ‘get out of jail free’ card,” said Huffington Post reader James Clark.
“She has the negotiation skills of a wall street investment banker [sic],” wrote Lauro Andrea.
For Michael Fricks of Houston, Texas, there was too much emphasis being placed on the woman and not enough on Ballard’s resolve.
“Everyone here has it all wrong… smh,” he wrote. “We should be focusing on the tremendous job this officer did when confronted with such a tempting bribe. My hats off to you officer!”
Diane Thomas probably isn’t the first person to try and bribe her way out of trouble, but I’ve got to admit her method of doing so is a new one on me as well as the Inquisitr . The last story here to deal with bribery was Mitt Romney implying it of the Clinton Foundation. Pretty vanilla stuff.
This Louisiana woman certainly takes crime to a new level. Do you think the officer did the right thing by hitting Diane Thomas with the extra charge? Sound off in the comments section.
