Robin Gibb, Legendary Bee Gees Singer, Hospitalized for More Surgery

London — Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has been re-admitted to hospital after taking a turn for the worse in his recovery from liver cancer over the weekend, according to a statement released to the British media on Wednesday.

The legendary “Staying Alive” crooner was taken into hospital on Sunday to undergo an operation for a twisted bowel.

Gibb was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2011 but had believed he had beaten the illness, speaking about his ‘spectacular’ recovery in January 2012 he revealed that he was in remission.

“I am beating it,” Gibb, 62, is quoted by Mirror.co.uk as saying at the time.

Robin went on to credit his wife Dwina as the reason for his successful recovery.

“I could not have done it without the love of Dwina. She has never left my side and is a wonderful person. I love her so much for what she has done for me.

Despite this latest set-back, Gibb believes he will be well enough to attend the premiere of Titanic Requiem next month.

“The Titanic Requiem” is Gibb’s first classical work written with his son Robin-John, and is being released to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the luxury liner on April 15, 1912.

Gibb’s intention to attend the concert – due to take place at Central Hall, Westminster in London on April 10 – was outlined by a statement released on his behalf, which reads:

“On Sunday 25 March, Robin Gibb underwent further intestinal surgery.

“He is currently recovering in hospital and therefore, for the time being, all existing commitments prior to the Titanic Requiem concert, have had to be cancelled.”

NME writes that Robin Gibb has previously blamed his recent poor health on the price of fame , saying he wondered if it was “karmic.”
