Jim Bob Duggar: Jim Bob’s Past Opinion – Incest Should Be Punishable By Death

Jim Bob Duggar a hypocrite? It sure does sound like it.

Jim Bob and his family, from TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting , have been in the spotlight recently, but not for reasons one would want to be. His oldest son Josh Duggar recently admitted to molesting four young girls when he was a teenager, after In Touch magazine obtained a copy of a police report detailing the incidents. Now, a statement made by Jim Bob regarding incest, at around the same time as the alleged molesting incidents occurred, has surfaced.

When Jim Bob was running for U.S. Senate in 2002, he spoke about abortion in the case of rape and incest, stating that incest should be punishable by death. Gawker managed to retrieve Duggar’s campaign website , which was preserved by web cache and shared the details of his opinions.

“If a woman is raped, the rapist should be executed instead of the innocent unborn baby. Adoption is an option. Many couples would love to adopt and are waiting for a baby. Abortion has been and always will be the destruction of an innocent child.”

“Rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes. The developing infant committed no crime and should be allowed to live.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported , on Friday, it was revealed that Josh had sexually abused five young girls, including four of his sisters, in 2002 and 2003. Following the news, Duggar took to Facebook to admit his actions in a lengthy statement.

“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling.”

“I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life. I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions. In my life today, I am so very thankful for God’s grace, mercy and redemption.”
