Alison Pill Weds: ‘Newsroom’ Star Ties The Knot To Joshua Leonard
The Newsroom star Alison Pill wed Joshua Leonard over the weekend and fans are thrilled to share in the happy news. The two spent only about four months being engaged before tying the knot, and it seems they went with a fairly low-key ceremony.
Pill, 29, and Leonard, 39, revealed the big news via Instagram. Alison Pill wed Joshua Leonard in a way that showcased their individual style and they documented much of it via Instagram throughout the weekend. Alison shared a photo of the happy couple after the wedding with a simple caption that they were married. As People notes, other weekend photos showed their first dance together, the two wearing their rings, her bachelorette party, and their loved ones gathered together to celebrate with them.
By the looks of things the couple had a very small gathering for their nuptials, but they incorporated personal touches that emphasized their own flair as a couple. Alison wore a yellow, short-sleeved vintage-style sheer dress with red lipstick and a red flower pin. Leonard wore dark pants and a dark tie with a white shirt and it seems he dubbed the day the best of his life.
While Pill may have struggled with romance as Maggie Jordan on The Newsroom, she appears quite content with the love she found with Leonard. Joshua first hit the acting scene with The Blair Witch Project and he’s done a number of projects since then. Many will recognize him from stints on CSI: Miami, Hung, or Bates Motel.
Pill had previously been engaged to actor Jay Baruchel, but they quietly split a couple of years after getting engaged. Alison and Joshua got engaged during a hike at Joshua Tree National Park in January. While the couple’s wedding may have been a bit non-traditional, Leonard did go fairly traditional with the proposal.
As People shared in January, the couple went with some friends for a hiking trip at the park and all of the friends were in on the plan. Joshua had gotten the permission of Alison’s parents before the proposal and during the trip he found the perfect spot to drop to one knee and propose. According to the New York Daily News, the couple started dating shortly after Alison’s split with Baruchel in early 2013.
Fans are thrilled for the Newsroom star’s great news and love that Alison Pill wed Joshua Leonard in a way that fit their personalities and bucked some of the typical wedding traditions.
