Jim Bob Duggar Once Said Incest Is A Crime Worthy Of Execution
Jim Bob Duggar did everything he could to make sure that Josh Duggar was not prosecuted for sexually molesting five underage girls, but now the past is coming back to haunt the 19 Kids and Counting star in a huge way. If Jim Bob practiced what he preached, he would have called for the execution of his son.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, four of Josh Duggar’s young victims were his own sisters. Instead of choosing to protect the girls by turning Josh in to the proper authorities in 2002, Jim Bob chose to protect Josh by waiting an entire year before taking any action to deal with his son’s shocking behavior. According to In Touch Weekly, Jim Bob did nothing after an unnamed female minor (possibly one of his daughters) informed him that Josh had been fondling her breasts and genitals while she slept. Because of Jim Bob’s failure to take action, Josh continued to molest little girls. After a year of letting his son get away with it, Jim Bob contacted church officials. They decided that Josh needed to be sent away to a controversial religious “treatment center” for a few weeks.
By the time someone alerted the authorities about what Josh had done three years later, it was too late — Jim Bob refused to allow the police to question his son, and the statute of limitations ran out. This meant Josh could no longer be prosecuted for his crimes.
Because Jim Bob Duggar worked so hard to keep his son out of legal trouble, you’d think that he believes that it’s okay to let someone get away with incest and sexual abuse — as long as they pray about it and ask for forgiveness, of course. In fact, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar actually told their fans that Josh’s incestuous molestation helped their family by bringing them “closer to God.”
“When Josh was a young teenager, he made some very bad mistakes and we were shocked,” the Duggars wrote on their Facebook page. “We had tried to teach him right from wrong. That dark and difficult time caused us to seek God like never before. Even though we would never choose to go through something so terrible, each one of our family members drew closer to God.”
However, Jim Bob Duggar was singing a much different tune about incest during his failed 2002 Senate run. Gawker managed to dig up Jim Bob’s campaign platform using the Wayback Machine website, and it features the 19 Kids and Counting star’s views on incest. As it turns out, Jim Bob believes that incest is a crime that should be punishable by death.
“If a woman is raped, the rapist should be executed instead of the innocent unborn baby. Adoption is an option. Many couples would love to adopt and are waiting for a baby. Abortion has been and always will be the destruction of an innocent child. Rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes. The developing infant committed no crime and should be allowed to live.”
It seems as though Jim Bob is saying that incest is an unforgivable crime, but he was very quick to forgive his son for molesting four of his sisters. And from the sounds of it, Jim Bob would have made one of his daughters suffer even more if Josh had raped her and gotten her pregnant — he would have forced the girl to have the baby because it “committed no crime and should be allowed to live.”
