Gretchen Rossi Skips Out On Scheduled Wedding Date? ‘At This Point, I’m Like, Screw It’
Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley announced they would wed on May 23, but on Saturday, the former Real Housewives of Orange County stars did not tie the knot. So, what happened? During a May 25 interview with Us Weekly, Gretchen Rossi explained why she and her longtime boyfriend haven’t yet made it down the aisle.
“We keep changing the date like 28 times. It’s so bad…Every single time we start planning and thinking that we’re going to make it happen, something comes up or somebody can’t make it in the family or just something… It’s so funny because at this point, I’m like, screw it. We’re just going to like go elope. Because like every time we have a plan or have something, it always is like getting messed up.”
Despite the couple’s multiple failures at walking down the aisle, Gretchen Rossi insisted to the magazine that she and Smiley will one day tie the knot. She also claimed their relationship is perfectly healthy and happy.
“[We] sit out back by the fireplace and have a glass of wine and probably watch a movie. We just love being together. We can literally be watching paint dry, and if we’re together, it’s fun. The bottom line is, that we’re just best friends, so we just want to be together all the time, and we’re lucky that we have that.”
Gretchen Rossi began dating Smiley a short time after joining the cast of The Real Housewives of Orange County. As fans will recall, Smiley had been with the show since Season 1, when he was engaged to Jo De La Rosa, and also dated housewife Lauri Waring years later.
Gretchen Rossi was brought aboard the series during her engagement to a man named Jeff, who later died of leukemia. Following his death, Rossi and Smiley struck up a romance, which eventually led her to propose during season eight of the series.
Gretchen Rossi announced a wedding date of May 23 during an appearance at the end of last year on Andy Cohen’s late night talk show, Watch What Happens Live.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Gretchen Rossi’s fiance spoke of their future wedding during a recent interview. Last week, Smiley chatted with Real Mr. Housewife, claiming that while he and Gretchen Rossi do intend to get married eventually, they have no solid plans at the moment.
Gretchen Rossi left The Real Housewives of Orange County in late 2013.
